Hi:

I've moved from a Tungsten C to the TX and was quite happy with the P10802U. Looking at the TX, there are Bluetooth, Wireless, palm, logitech, belkin, Think Outside and other third party keyboards. Which keyboard do you folks recommend and why? I'd appreciate some help as my head is spinning from all of the choices.

Thanks,

Tom

I have really enjoyed the combination of the Palm Universal Keyboard and my TX. I am not sure I understand all the complants with it. I seem to get pretty full functionality out of it. I am glad I went with IR and not Bluetooth. It does not seem to effect the TX's battery life, and the batteries in the keyboards seem to last forever. It is small when closed sturdy when opened and locks into an open position for easier typing on most surfaces.

Good luck

ThinkOutside seems to be getting a lot of 'good press' and user responses - and they had a TX-friendly driver well before Palm issued one for their own keyboard.

I'm not sure why so many people have had problems with Palm's UWK. The keyboard itself was built for Palm by ThinkOutside, so it has to fall back on whatever Palm has done to the driver itself. Given that the driver 1.10 was created supposedly specifically for the TX, its hard to see why the weird vagaries of service. But that's the case.

Belkin, Logitech et al do not appear to have TX drivers yet.

I want a keyboard, but it looks like I'll be paying for the (at least here in Toronto) slightly more expensive ThinkOutside package. On the plus side, I'll gain almost certain and full connectivity and better Support.

I've used the IR Palm Wireless Keyboard on mine - I used to use it on the UX50. Although to get a landscape view on DocsToGo, I did have to set the Handness to LEFT to get the screen to orient so that the IR port was on the left side where the Arm could see it.

I think this keyboard is often confused with the Universal version - but they are two separate units. One has the Palm offset to the left and uses IR, the other more centered and uses bluetooth? I use the IR version and have NO problem with keyboard battery life. I think it only uses power when a key is pressed to send out a signal, making every key a power switch - This maximizes battery life.

I've not seen nor tried the bluetooth version.
