Well I installed it on my TX but had to go back to the previous version. It would crash each time I would try to set up a daily schedule.

Mike at bitsnbolts says he thinks he found the problem and v2.01 will be released in a day or so.

I had the same problem with BackupMan 2. I installed it yesterday and bought the activation code and have been finding it resets my TX sporadically when doing manual backups. When trying to set a scheduled backup, I get a repeatable error (resets the device every time). I deactivated PalmRevolt and Fontsmoother thinking there may be a conflict there but that didn't make a difference; I still get resets. I e-mailed tech support and they said they can't reproduce this effect on their TX and wanted me to send one of my backup sets so they could test. Although I appreciate their willingness to sort out this problem and although I don't have anything that confidential on my TX, I'm reluctant to send off a backup (copy) of all my stuff on the TX to "strangers."
It looks like it will be a great backup application when they get this reset issue worked out.

Is there no discount for current 1.xx users? I see that there are free upgrades for 60 days (and I'm way past that), but I didn't see anything about discounts for current users.

I couldn't find any, sadly enough.

I'm guessing he thinks it's too much of a hassle (which it probably is) to try and find old email addresses and reg codes and stuff and match it up with people requesting codes from new email addresses. Oh well.

I believe that bitsnbolts is likely a one man shop. I've had several upgrades on the $10 I spent for 1.xx, and had far more than $10 worth of customer support from Mike when I upgraded to an NVFS device. I will test 2.xx in a few days, and if it meets my needs, I am willing to help Mike keep a roof over his head and food in his stomach.

I've generally been happy with the customer support and quick response to e-mails. Hopefully he'll get version 2.01 out soon. BackupMan looks like it will be a great application when Mike gets the bug(s) worked out.

How does thing one compare with Resco Backup which I've been using? Not to say I'm willing to buy it, just curious ...

I've been backing up my TX with Rescoe Backup and Backupman (as a secondary backup solution). My Backupman version is 1.54. Although I haven't tried to restore from a backupman backup set, I haven't had any problems with the scheduled backups. Is there something I should know?

I've backed up and restored with BackupMan 1.54 on my TX without any problems. Version 2.0 is giving me some issues (system resets) but allegeldy these are being addressed.
Some people have reported unsuccessful restores with BackupMan 1.54 on a TX. I have not had any bad experiences with this myself.
(Like anything else, it will likely fail just when I need it most).
I have to say I like BackupMan's interface and ease of use. I like that it backs everything up in one compressed file on the card while still allowing me to restore individual files.
My two biggest complaints about version 1.54 were the lack of encryption and the 320 x 320 display.
Version 2.0 adds encryption and 320 x 480.

Thanks. Are those the only additions in the new version(s), or has specific device support been added?

v 2.01 is out and seems "crashless" on my TX.
So far so good.

There are more additions/upgrades than the two I mentioned; I just really wanted those two for sure.
Looks like V2.01 is stable! So far, so good.
I think Mike set it up to handle specific devices and to ensure NVFS support in particular.

He does a helluva job, doesn't he?
I am registered for BBVFS but it doesn't do a full backup or restore the way BackupMan does. For example, BBVFS won't restore(or maybe backup) ePocrates while BackupMan seems to do a much more thorough restoration.
There is a seeming conflict between BackupMan and a medication program, OTRx that I was using but Mike says the issue isn't from his end so...
