Perhaps you've already seen this, but in case you haven't, you HAVE to install this freeware ZX Spectrum emulator.

http://www.freewebs.com/zxpilot/

I have been solidly playing with this for the last few days and it is fantastic. If you used to have a zx spectrum, then this is a necessary app. If you didn't get it anyway. There are literally thousands of ZX Spectrum games available for download, and a lot are still extremely playable by today's standards. Of the games that I've tried to convert (from files in the .sna format) only Penetrator wouldn't work (which was a bit of a shame). All the classics do - KnightLore, Manic Miner (I've just completed that after some serious play), Chuckie Egg, The Hobbit etc.

I'd also recommend that you install the zx launcher, which allows you to launch the game of your choice from a menu, and the conversion program (also on his site), to convert files from .sna to .pdb.

To find a game, I just typed in the name in Google, followed by .sna and you find links to most games. Then it's a simple conversion, copy to the memory stick and you can play. The game has to support either a sinclair, interface II joystick or have redefinable keys to work. This cuts out a few games that only have support for Kempson joystick, but not that many (sorry, but no Lunar Jetman, Atic Atac or Jetpac...).

Finally, a word on the author. I have emailed the author (Stanislav Yudin) a few times and he is the most helpful developer I have ever come across. I had some trouble with getting the keys right on Manic Miner and Chuckie Egg and he went to extreme lengths to help me out within half an hour of emailing him.

As you can see, I can't rate this app highly enough. The only limitation is no sound, but other than that it's the most fantastic nostalgia trip available on the palm.

PS - if anybody has an interest in playing Chuckie Egg and Manic Miner on this emulator, then post after this message and I'll post up the files or email them to you.
