Hello everyone,

A few days ago my WiFi card stopped working. Now I get an error message CF Card Error whenever trying to connect.

When I remove and reinsert the card I no longer get the chirp sound that clie has detected a new card.

I tried reinstalling the drivers including the latest WiFi drivers released by Sony. No go.

When I insert a different CF card I still get the chirp sound therefore I'm assuming that there is something wrong with the card.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can verify that the card and not the clie is the problem ?

Thanks,
dks

Maybe you could get a friend's nz or nx to test. i think that is the best way to find out.

I wish I could. None of my friends have a NZ or NX clies...

I am the only one with the "cool" device :)

Well use that as an excuse to go meet some people. Or just bring it to a sony clie dealer... i am sure he has some nx or nz's lying around.

I had that problem.

The solution turned out to be..... GO in and remove ALL files with CFWL100 then reinstall.

the ONE file which is instealled created a series of files on the Clie, some of these are settings, IF they are already there when you install it the setting stay.

Then go into network and delete all your WLAN profiles and make a new one. "new profile" everything default only turn off the power saving.

Although some cards have been bad, it most likely is the Clie!

If you don't get the beeps, it's a sure sign that you have a hardware problem! I suspect it is caused by static electricity shock or knows ESD, electro static discharge.

BTW, there are past threads on your exact problem. You can change drivers all day long until your blue in the face, if your hardware went south.

You MUST get the validation beeps!!!

Ok, here's a question for you.

Do you remember if you got the validation beeps BEFORE installing the Wifi drivers ? Or did they start beeping after the drivers were installed ?

thx

Yes, yes, yes! before, during, and after.

All the time and I am active in the CF beta driver program too.

I am trying to be very straight with you, you have a hardware problem, sorry :(.

if noting else works, just perform a hard reset to restore everything to factory settings and reinstall the drivers.

normally a soft reset should "fix" any driver/software problems.

I had the same problem. Turns out static fried my WL100. Returned to Best Buy for replacement. If you cannot get the unit to work after drivers, soft reset and hard reset, all of which I performed then the card is fried.

Happened to me a while ago... but the card worked in my friends NX70 but not my NX60. The problem went away when I got my NZ90... so for me it was the Clie... sorry....:(
