I just bought the PalmOne Universal Wireless Keyboard.
I've upgraded my Palm to v2.0, I've loaded in the newest KB drivers onto the LD as well. I've gone through many many forums and still no resolve. I've reinstalled the drivers twice as well. Basically when I turn on the KB driver on the LD, the moment I aim the IR from the KB and match it up with the IR on the LD, the LD just goes wacko and randomly hits characters into the "testing" line, and then randomly does commands. When I remove the IR's line of connect, it calms down a bit but the LD still goes crazy and summons different characters and commands. I've even gone to the extreme of getting myself into a room with no electronics, wrapped myself into a blanket and still the same thing. Can someone please help? Thanks.

There has been alot of confusions about the keyboards. There are 2 similar keyboards : (1) Palm universal wireless keyboard and (2) Palm wireless keyboard.
The former is the latest and it is black while the latter is an older version in grey. They both require to work with their indiviual drivers.
Ensure that you have the right driver (Palm support site refer) as they will not work with the other driver.
Sometime ago, I ordered a Palm universal wireless keyboard and gotten a Palm wirless instead. The dealers are not sure themselves and claimed that both keyboards are universal !
Palm could have solved this confusion with better communication. Perhaps Palm wirless keyboard WK1 and WK2 would be a better choice.

make sure you downloaded 1.08 version of kb driver and not the TX-specific 1.10!!

Ok, I've checked that out too. I got the Black one that has 5 rows of keys, which should be the newer Palm Universal Wireless KB. The plastic wraping case thingy from PalmOne also said Universal Wireless KB (PalmOne) on it.
I've also downloaded the 1.08 newest drivers from the PalmOne support LD site too.

One more aditional tid bit. I just did an experiment. I left my Keyboard at home. I'm in a remote area with no electronical equipment except for my phone that has no IR on it. I just turned on the KB driver on the LD and wow, it's going bonkers with the characters. Now I'm even more confused........and yes, I do have the newest drivers from PalmOne to support for the LD.

Hi,
I doubt it's the case for you, but just to make sure: if you direct the IR port to a cathodic tube (TV, PC monitor), or to a neon lamp, the keybord driver gets crazy and think it's characters... That makes it difficult to work in some environments.

I have the older 'grey' keyboard.. and after the Version 2.00 update, the Think outside driver causes mayhem with some apps that use the Stylus

I have made think outside aware, as they didn't know.. I await a response from them.

I was having problems with the UKB. Random repeats, constant IR interference from flourescent light, and random command jumps that made the keyboard utterly useless. It was frustrating to the point that I was ready to throw the keyboard against a wall. Then, out of curiosity, with nothing to lose, I installed the 1.10 driver. VOILA, no issues since. I DO NOT recommend doing it, but I am just saying that for the past week, the keyboard is working GREAT, and nothing so far is going wrong with my LD. Of course, the TX was having issues with the keyboard interfering with Bluetooth, so maybe my Bluetooth isn't working. I wouldn't know because that is the one feature I have never used. So again, worked great for me, but I don't recommend it unless you do a full back-up and you are ready for the consequences if something goes wrong.
