Didn't they claim 1.10 was "not" meant for the T|X? Weird. Well, works perfectly.

I am thankful the drivers for the TX are finally available however the circumstances around the way Palm released them has me a bit upset. First of all, the driver seems to have been available for quite a while, maybe even a month. Second, the Palm tech support people did not offer or seem to know of the driver either. Three, it took Alan having to rant about the Palm website in his latest podcast to get them to update it. Bottom line, if Palm wants to continue on it’s path to regain market shares, it better stop acting like a small company unable to do keep it’s support and website up to date and provide it’s customers with the support they deserve. It was not long ago that Dell had to move it’s corporate tech support back from India because of poor support and the threat of loosing high volume customers. I’m just glad this is over!!!
Don't put away your poison pens yet, people -
Reports are already surfacing (including within Palm's own Forum - you know the one, the one Palm created so they could abdicate Support back to the users) of the TX driver not consistently working.
Deja vu all over again....

I found that the patch worked. I did find that it was not as finicky as before. But as MleB said it does not completely work all the time. It still will turn off and that makes me have to do all sorts of stuff to turn it on again. But this patch is a lot better than the problems of having the keyboard work and then completely stop and me spend an hour trying to it working.
So if ThinkOutside supplied Palm with the original UWK (and to which Palm seemed to provide the drivers that are routinely problematic, regardless of PDA) and ThinkOutside's current own keyboard and TX driver seem to have a whole lot fewer problems, why can't Palm simply pay ThinkOutside to provide them with a stable driver?
Palm is all too keen to load all sorts of, uh...stuff into their devices, despite their sometimes doubtful usefullness - yet is unwilling/too cheap on including a product that might make another of their devices useful?
And then they wonder why they have users looking elsewhere....

Look elsewhere if you wish, you´ll have problems the same if not more. Just go and read PPC forums and reviews...

OK, correct me if I'm wrong, waht I got from this thread was this:
If I were to buy the IR keyboard from palm, it woudn't work all the time? If I'm wrong about this, then how would I get it to work? (download links if possible)
btw:
Users threaten to keep their TX because the UWK has driver been released :)
LOL!!!

I have a Palm keyboard that I used with my Zodiac that just says "Wireless Keyboard" on it. It's IR. I'm going to get a T|X after I get my tax return, I hope it'll work.
[EDIT]
I found it on Palm's website:
http://www.palm.com/us/products/accessories/peripherals/P10946U.html
It says it doesn't work with the T|X.

Hi guys,
For those buying the keyboards, pls take note : irrespective of where and from whom you're gonna get the keyboard from, there are still this confusion about (1) Palm Universal wireless keyboard and (2) Palm wireless keyboard.
Many dealers are not sure themselves and use the name UNIVERSAL keyboard for all their keyboards. I had mine so called "Universal" one shipped in and it turns out to an older keyboard - wireless keyboard.
When checked, the dealer still insist that it is "Universal".
They are both IR keyboard by Palm (Thinkoutside) - the older one is grey and the latest black.
It would really be good if Palm had used model numbers for their keyboards as well rather than names which can be confusing like in this case.
Becareful.

Why every new Palm models require a new version of the keyboard drivers?
Because Palm keeps changing Graffiti :)

Just made the switch from T3 to TX, only to find that the keyboard doesn't work, even with the new driver. Sigh.. From the scarce advice on Palm's website, I guess it's conflicting with some third party app that might be using the IR as well. Can't identify any app that looks guilty tho. Has anyone encountered any apps that affected your keyboard? :)

Nope. The only thought that comes to mind is the off repeated caveat about upgrading.... you've got to be real careful that nothing from your T3 has been placed on your TX. Do a search on 1src and you'll find a lot of information about this.

Tell me about it. When I first tried to sync my old data into my TX, it went into a reset loop! And I had no idea how to hard or warm reset it (the previous method of resetting while holding the on button didn't work)! I panicked and only found out how to do a hard reset after quickly going to Palm's website. By then it had reset itself like 20 times.
After that I installed my apps one by one. :D
So no, I don't have the previous keyboard.prc transferred over. In fact, I've deleted and reinstalled the new keyboard.prc to no avail.

minee,
I didn't mean the keyboard prc at all. The method you used of trying to sync old T3 data to the TX (and apps as well) is what I was referring to. From your description (reset loops, etc.) I'd bet something from your T3 that isn't compatible with the TX is causing the problems.

Ok, I get what you mean now. Actually, after I had that reset loop problem, I didn't sync anything over from my T3 after doing the hard reset, but installed new applications I downloaded. A couple of games were beamed over from my T3, tho . Perhaps I'll look into those to see whether they're the problem causing ones.
Tks. :)
