Hi. I know that in Windows XP there is the option, for wireless card to detect and list any SSIDs found in the area. Are there any application which does the same thing, only for TH55? So far all I use is the Clie Mobile Manger, but the program requires me to know the router's SSID and password, and enter them manually from my computer. Any suggestion is appreciated.

Hi! Plug time. SharkScan DA. It's a DA that lets you scan from anywhere. Fun. check it out here: http://www.ludustech.com/files/SharkScanDA.prc

and there is also the builtin scanner.
goto preferences -> network, choose the wireless lan profile, press details and then the scan button.

and there is also the builtin scanner.. . . which SharkScan auto-launches. So "All of the above" is the correct answer! :D To clarify to pikachu360, the built-in Network scan function does what you are asking/looking for. If the access point is running in "public" (not hidden) mode, the TH55's built-in scan will list all detected access points, AND tell you if they use WEP encryption, as well as the Mode and Signal strength.

There are a couple of fancier 3rd party hot spot detecting applications "out there," but none that work on the Clie, thanks to Sony's proprietary discretions. :(

Hi,
I got that file, but its a database. Nothing happened.
What executable is necessary to run it ?

It is a DA (Desk Accessory), so you need a DA launcher such as DA Launcher 5 (http://palmgear.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=software.showsoftware&PartnerREF=&siteid=1&prodID=8584) (freeware) or Zlauncher's QLA, TealLaunch, McPhling, SharkSwipeTH (of course, ;) ), etc. I use QLA since it is bult-in in ZLauncher.

You welcome.

That DALauncher and QLA require a swipe and a tap to launch a DA (2 steps). If you want to launch a DA with a single swipe (1 step), try SharkSwipeTH (http://www.ludustech.com/sharkswipe/). For example you can map the swipe from the WiFi icon in status bar and up to the screen to launch the SharkScanDA. It is easy to remember that way.
