ZLauncher 3.01 Beta

Can you believe it. 3.01B arrived in my inbox this morning. Here's the list. As always, they have asked not to post betas. But if you're interested, send them a message. They have a very liberal beta policy.

1) Added option to specify font in the FileManager's files list.
2) Added support to the upper-right Card button in the File Manager for multiple expansion card.
3) Disabled the auto-resort mechanism in the File Manager. Now if the items are not sorted by name, when you change the right column item information, the list will not be resorted. You have to sort it manually.
4) Added a function button for "Modem HotSyncing" directly.
5) Now the Category Label button is no longer fixed width.
6) Miscellaneous updates and bug-fixes.

Great new features. I love using a smaller font in the file manager. The Category Label button width change was widely requested here, and it works great.

This beta introduced a new problem, though. The right column only sorts ascending irrespective of the sort direction selected. There are also a few display issues. Stability seems fine.

Thanks for the redirect!

You can change the sort order, but it's a little more involved. Basically the sort order will be the invervse of the other arrow for the folder side of the screen. It took me a little while to figure it out. Not too long ago when I tried to compare files by switching between creator ID's and creation date for example, it kept resorting on me. I did NOT report it, but now I like it, somewhat. It will take a little getting used to, but the feature is still there.

In the file manager there is a letter A at the bottom of the screen to the right of the OK button. Tap it and change the font:)

Thanks, but I don't have the "A". I'm using version 3.01B, build 030408 that ZZTechs sent to me. Is there a newer beta?

The new font selection is really nice. I appreciate the full selection of fonts being available. I prefer the small font rather than the tiny one so I am glad I have the option to select it.

You don't "find" it, it's automatic. The width of the category pull-down depends on how long the category name is and where the nearest tool is located on the top bar. Play with it by moving or eliminating tool icons to the left of the category using a long category name and you'll see what I mean.

Has anyone found out a way to use the Hotsync to start a Bluetooth sync?

I only seem to be able to start a cradle to cable one or a modem one. It is perfect to not need the app to start one. I would like to be to use this feature.

I have my ALL category now without an icon and named only A and the width has not changed as I have put icons on the sides of the current visible ones and nothing new shows:(

Yah same here? Or is this new feature not allow someone to do this? Maybe some explanation on what this new feature does would be nice. Thanks in advance!

OK, a picture is worth a thousand words, so here are 3000 words worth. Top tool bar without category showing:

Now with the same tools behind but category pull-down added. Note that it overwrites the three right-most tools:

Now I delete the hide/show category tool from the top bar, leaving more room to the left of the category name. Note how the full category name now appears. No settings were changed except deleting the one tool:

So you see how you can leave or make room for longer category names on the top tool bar by the placement or removal of tool icons. That's a new feature in ZL 3.01B build 030411.

Thanks, I see:) Mine is set at the smallest to begin with so that is why I see no difference. I can only make the bar longer.
