View Full Version : nightmare for me and my nx

I had a rather disturbing dream last night: someone pushed me into a pool filled with saltwater crocodiles, but that was the least of my worries. My NX, as always, was in my lower left pocket- sploosh. I was devastated to find when I turned it on the cloudy lcd screen, then remembered i wasn't supposed to turn it on after water damage, but instead pplace it in the oven or something. Anyway, i was lucky enough to wake up and free myself from the nightmare.
I had another dream a few months back where someone tried the James T. Kirk wrist-flip (Kirk to Enterprise) and the screen was decapitated. Also I've had many nightmares of people, including myself, swiveling the screen the wrong way.
Who else is possessed by such evil and dark nightmares?

Well, .....yes. I just sold my Gunmetal NX70 to a friend. I packed it up. He took a few days to pick it up. All I could think about was, what if someone broke in and just took my nicely packed up NX!!!!
Well he finally picked it up last night!
Oh why did I sell it in the first place? Well I have regressed back to my NR, while I await the next latest Sony unveiling!

Imadrin, it may sound rude, but I wish your dreams will not come true! ;) Of course I am just talking about your nightmares here. :)
Fortunately, I've never had such weird and scary dreams about my Clie. Perhaps because it so perfectly and reliably served me whether I was climbing a mountain, hiking in the rain or sleeping during a meeting in the office. ;)
What I do have from time to time is some kind of nightmarish daydream that I might have forgotten the stylus in the cradle in my office. This is something that never happened to me with my Palm or Visor. But since I purchased a second stylus, even those extreme moments of despair have lost much of their horror. :D

well, I didn't have any nightmares (yet), I do daydream about them. Usually when I walk down the stairs (concrete, circular) with my NX, I see myself tripping/falling snapping my preciouse device in 2....lots of those situations....*shivvvver*

Well let me tell you guys a disturbing story. I sent my pc for repair and i collected it from the shop. When i got home, i carried it to my apartment. I used two hands so i had none free to hold my nr70. When i came down to get my clie some m%^$#*f^**^r smashed my car window and swiped my clie. I hid it at the side of the door. He sole my CD player and i guessed he saw my clie peeking at the side... Sigh... My advice to all you clie users... Dont leave home without it.... and dont go home without it!

I agree, best way would be to always have it attached to your belt or so. It must have been a real shock to see your car window broken and your NX gone. Sorry to hear that. That's one of the occasions when my more basic instincts come to surface and I wish the Clie had something like a 100.000 volt built-in stun-gun that activates when somebody enters the wrong password for the third time. (Aehh... you did protect your Clie with a password, didn't you?) It would also be great if the camera can take a picture of the intruders face when the lightning hits him. Any idea if SONY will deliver a Memorystick for that? ;)
My nightmare came true with my t615c. My wife washed my pants with it still in the pocket and then when she found it she of course tried to turn it on. I took it apart as soon as possible to try to dry it out but there was already heavy corrosion on many of the solder connections (maybe from the detergent). I could get it to turn on after it dried out but it didn't work properly. This sucked big time but it enabled me to upgrade to the NX70 without her giving me any crap. I never leave My NX in my pants.

I've had to do flying catches twice with my NX- once when I tripped on the stairs and once when an annoyed peer decided that he didn't like me playing with the TV and tried to knock it on the floor. Should have let it go, force him to give me the money and then go purchase an nz-90. When it was in the air it was a rather interesting experience- time froze, i did about a million calculations about its trajectory, the floor, wind speed, saw it from every angle, etc.
still not as disturbing as my dreams though

I'm sorry, but with a story like that I cannot resist...
Is that a NX70V in your pocket, or are you happy to see me?

Every morning before I go to work, I HotSync so I can read my AvantGo channels with my morning coffee. Usually about the time I've driven half-way to work and it's too late to turn around, I am suddenly filled with dread when I can't remember if I put my NX in my bag or if it't still sitting in the cradle at home.
I panic. My heart races. Sweat beads form on my forehead. The terror of going a whole day at work without my NX grips me like a vise. I check the clock to see if I have time to turn around and get my precious. I would be quite late for work; would it be worth it?
Shaking, my hand reaches into my bag in the seat next to me. My frantic fingers identify the items in my bag one at a time: Pen, notepad, checkbook, CPR mask, half-eaten candy bar... Adrenalin surges through my body. Until finally, I feel the smooth, soft leather exterior of a Sena case.
Suddenly I feel calm, relaxed. All is well again. My baby is right beside me. I can bravely face the day ahead of me.
This is almost a daily experience for me. Pretty silly, huh?

On thursday, I was turning the screen and one of the torx/star?? screw holding the top left bit of the screen FELL OFF!!!!! This happens while I was behind the comms equipment rack in my server room with raised floor :o
Needless to say, I've not seen the damn screw since...
BTW, I think the NX magnesium casing is more "fragile" than my other palms. I treat the NX not better nor worse than my other Palms (5 others :- from a 2mb Palm Pro to N760). My NX has been with me for less than 4 monthes and it's there's now quite a few small indents (chip) along the stylus side of the casing. The silver paint of the camera module is also starting to strip. :(

I can sort of echo that. Except I never forget my Clie since it sits right beside my screen, so I always pack it up right after I check my email - but there's a worse aspect to it, one that is not immediately obvious, and one known as AvantGo. The stupid program doesn't sync its channels once out of two times quite regularly, so I occasionally find myself leaving in a hurry, only to find myself with the default welcome page when I try to read the channels, depriving me of hours of reading!!!!!!!!
That happened on a transpacific flight ones.... that was terrible....
... of course, the more terrible time was when I was on a transpacific flight WITHOUT my Clie 'cause it was in repair.... omg, I never thought 12 hours can be SO FREAKING BORING, heh. I think I read through the whole lame flight magazine. Eww. Err, I think I strayed offtopic here. :)

Near heart attack last night: dropped my case (I use a Sumdex PDA/callphone case) and it hit flat-side-on against the edge of a sections of granite. I was convinced the NX70V screen was toast, especially since I tend to keep it in tablet mode in the case. I fought the urge to be sick, opened the case, and found everything was completely fine! I swear it took 5 years off my life!
