it was heart ripping you had to see it, i was taking it out of the cradle and the orange light seemed like it sputtered feeling that drop in my heart i try to turn it on franticlly, nothing, i plug it back in, it turns on, i felt better till i looked at the battery info and it read external power it no longer reads its battery my uncle in the bx where i left from said it would have been likely for it to short just more less lucky that it didnt mes up anything else, but thers no way to really know

Wait a sec. You saw the orange light flicker right?? That doesn't mean it shorted. That means there's not enough voltage being supplied to charge the unit. The unit needs 5.2V of power. Regular USB ports on PCs usally don't give the full 5V they are supposed to. They give like 4.8V sometimes. This .4V discrepency is what you are seeing. I have a USB plug that emits 5.4V that I use and it keeps my UX constantly charging with an orange LED. Even at full brightness with music video.

but ive had no problem from saterday to now with constant charging and by flicker i mean more like a death flicker, when deep in ur heart u kno that batt aint going to go on, plus the device does not even read the battery being there, my uncle from southbx told me that it was a high chance that it was shorted by being feed + - instead of -+ per say,

when i hooked it in i didnt look at the port and now i realize i hooked it in bottem usb port(ill show u what i mean when u see pic) if u can see the bottom port is missing the lil black cap thatsits in every usb port to make sure it goes in a certain way i got this laptop like this and ive never had a problem with it BUT if i take the wire and hook it upside down, it still fits due to the missing cap, and very possibly being my culprite, u think so?

Wow. Might be. Did your laptop reset or short? That could do a lot of damage.
Just get another battery. I hope your UX can still charge. Can it?

btw laptop appears to be ok it froze at the time tho but no damage done to it, my other pondering idea is is it possible that after a while the battery will "unshort" or would it stay this way? im still going to get new one regardless i was jus curious
