hd crashed...open box no warranty...so i tried to fix it myself....sent hd back....dont have the data or partition data tpo really fix....so im stuck....repair...costs less than an axim...or sell it for a loss just to move it....and then buy a betterpda....

tough call. I dont think the argument for persisting with the ld is at all compelling. I have tried to like mine but I would certainly say it is the buggiest, least reliable pda (if not any electronic device) that I have ever owned...I despise all thing M$ but I am very close to jumping ship (and as a devoted mac person, this would be a painful experience). Put it this way, if you ebay it, I wont be bidding!!!

IMO you'll not have much for it selling it broke. At least pay for the repair and sell it afterward. I think it could go as much as 300$US if in good to perfect condition (once repaired). Broken, IMHO you won't get 100$ for.

Assuming Palm will repair your LD, it will cost you $129 (http://www.palm.com/us/support/contact/us_warranty_a.html#lifedrive) plus the cost to ship it to them (let's say about $10). Therefore (from p_boucher's estimates): The value unrepaired: $100. The value repaired: $300 - $129 - $10 = $161. Therefore, I agree with p_boucher, try to get it repaired.
However, Palm might refuse to repair your device. From the "Unrepairable Damage" from the US Palm Support Repairs page (http://www.palm.com/us/support/contact/repair.html):Your device is considered unrepairable by Palm if:
[...] Plastic casing has been opened, device modified, or service performed by someone other than a Palm Repair Center technician

It might save you $20.
