Okay...I stole this thread from the NX forum...but hey, everyone knows the TG50s are better than the NX.

So anyways back on topic. I've been to my local suburban Sony store twice now since the TG50 has been released and both times they've been sold out except for the demo model. What gives...they're obviously moving a lot of them but I still have yet to see one...well...actually now that I think about it I've only ever seen one person with a clie....

So anyways...where are all the TG50 users located? Any in Vancouver Canada??

Bestbuy also offers the TG 50 for online-orders. But before I will order it, just tell me, if the US-version also includes several languages (german)? In Germany the TG50 ist not yet available.

thanks in advance,

I purchased my TG50 about a 6 weeks ago and I use it for work daily. I take down customer's names, purchasing preferences, schedule information, you name it.
I work with Sony of Canada at the Sony Store in Orchard Park Shopping Center, so I'm pretty well versed with Clies and decided it was time for me to make my own purchase. I'm glad I decided not to skimp out, I thought if I was going to get a Clie then I would get one of the best. My Clie is indispensable, and my personal experience has helped me sell countless more Clies than before. If anyone in Canada needs a Clie, or advice on any of our lineup or just general questions let me know. :)

melbourne, australia from the sony store a few days before official release (i'm persuasive).

now i'm kinda sad since the tungsten C has been released. i've been scouring the FCC databases for weeks and the C hasn't show up. So i bought the TG-50... two weeks later...

fellow TG50 users please convince me that i made the right choice!

Of course you did! Look at the C, it's bulky, plastic and looks like something that dropped out of the last decade.

Besides, the headphone jack is MONO!!! You can't listen to MP3s that way you can on the TG50....

Well, I got to say that the TG-50 is a great device. Tungsten C is a nice try from Palm.

Although T|C beat TG50 in speed, I think it is an overkill as they do not have any solid multimedia capability out of the box-kinoma and realone are not quite solid. Compare them with clie viewer, clie audio player, clie paint and many others. Clie has a more extensive multimedia capability that is available out of the box which will keep the processor busy and the 200Mhz handle them well.

T|C have wireless LAN. But Not all people have/use that.

T|C have 64MB RAM. But Do they have a 1GB on SD? Sony has 1GB for MS (Don't consider cost).

The mp3 sounds bad as compared to TG-50.

Metal is nicer than plastic.

T|C is thicker 0.65" vs 0.5"

T|C have 2.5mm connecter. Gosh...Where am I going to get earphones man!

BTW, I don't quite want to know where T|C is assembled in. In case I puke.

Just my $0.02

thanks. :-)

i'm a wireless junkie. i do a lot of security work around wireless. i wanted to take a look at bluetooth so i went for the TG. I was very tempted to wait on the T|C.

But the MS wifi card will be around soon right?

I've been a loyal Palm PDA user since '99 way back from the original Palm 3. Just last week, I finally made the plunge to my first CLie. Now I understand all the ruckus about the Sony Clies - they're just a generation ahead in both form and function. Yeah, Palm Inc. started the Palm, but Sony perfected it IMHO.

The new Tungsten C and the Zire 71 are a nice attempt on playing catch up, but it takes no idiot to see that they're just "Me Too!" answers to what Sony has been selling in the past year! ZZZzzzzzzzzz. . . Boink! It seems Palm finally decided it's time to wake up to the reality that they've been sleeping to long. The sales figures and market shares tell the entire story. Only Sony Clies had sales growth in the last quarter.

Oh yeah, did you notice that the Tungsten C is plain ugly? Hey, I've no bias against its designers - I've owned Palm-only brands during the last four years, until I decided to wake up and face the reality that Palm is just very much way behind already.

BTW, prior to my Clie TG50, I've always admired Sony for its value-for-money factor in all its products. Now with my first Clie, I can see why Sony is a winning player in the Palm PDA market.

- from Taipei, but not a Taiwanese. Don't speak Mandarin ;-)
- Also own the very first Clie S300! Proud of it!
- Almost lost my stylus the 2nd day
- Wish the thumboard (or nailboard?) will loose a bit.
- Plan to get more spare stylus
- Successfully hotsync with BT and IR
- Still struggling with internet with BT!!!
- Don't have BT cellphone, so haven't tried yet.
- Love these games: lemonade & bejeweled.
- Considered to get MS Select 256MB.
- Still looking for a nice case for my TG, prefer slim leather so won't look bulky in my pocket.
- Last but not least, I'm still not sure if I should remove the sticker on the protective case! Any suggestions?

Been using TG50 since May 2003 more than my laptop!
Most importantly, been using TG50 to send and receive SMS from my Sony Ericsson T68i via bluetooth. Bluetooth is a wonderful tool! My phone just stays mostly in my belt holster.

I had it the same week it was released... I love Best Buy.
Oh, and yes, having flashROM is well worth having the older (I can't believe I'm calling it old) processor 250 (vs. 255)

Does anyone else use the built in remote control as much as I do?
I ask because Sony didn't include it in the UX's... I wonder why not (you'd think it wouldn't take any extra hardware space and very little ROM memory, so why not?)

TG50 is king! (a small king)
