Palm Desktop Confusion

What's the difference between a User and a Profile on the Palm Desktop? The reason I'm asking is that I have a Visor and a TJ37 and would like to sync the datebook, todos, address book, etc. for school stuff but would like to keep the program installation and conduits seperate (AvantGo for Visor, DTG for Clie, etc.). Is there a way?

Also, does anyone know any free document editors for Palm 3.1 that has the ability to transfer docs to and fro?

AFAIK there isn't any. They are essentially the same thing.

I do not know of any free Doc editors for OS 3.1 . I'd reccommend DTG, but that costs money. Sorry I don't really know.

Recommend that you use different Hotsync names for both devices and use the Import/Export function on Palm Desktop to move the PIMs around. That way you won't get Sony system and preferences files on your Handspring and vice versa.
