If you have, I'd like your opinion on it. It seems like a good solution to having a lot of unnecessary files on your PDA, but I don't know if it actually works well.
Thanks in advance.

Never needed it, I use the delete in the stock launcher. I also moved the app to be deleted to RAM first. Never had a problem and I don't clutter up my machine with too many hacks.

n2ifp,
what do you mean by this?

thie program - unistall manager, seems to monitor installations, and keep track of databases, and preference entries (in the preferences file) that do not have creator id's that match the creator id of the installed program...
I used prefmgr to kill preferences I don't want, but they are small, so not really worth the effort ...
I use SuperUtility to ferret out errant databases...
not really sure that:
1. I want a program running all the time to monitor installs
2. I trust it not to delete something important
3. that it really can find these files... many files are only created when the program is run, not just installed...

Rob,
If you have apps stored on the MS that you want to delete for example. First move the app to be deleted into RAM first. Then go to the stock OEM Sony launcher. Then tap on menu, then select delete, then find your app in the list and delete it.
This helps get rid of the apps associated db's too.

but does not always get all the files and preference entries....
that's the point of this software...

oh ok..i see your point. if i go into the stock delete option from the clie launcher, there is a pull-down menu for deleting from MS. can't i jus tpull-down, select MS and then delete from MS directly? would that not rid me of the app's associated dbs?
thanks n2ifp & greg.

unless you install and uninstall a lot of software, or are running out of space, I'd take Larry's advice...
I do this kind of cleanup on my unit, but with the tools I mentioned, but I would probably be classified as both an expert class user, and a nit picker...

I am NOT an expert user, just know enough to be dangerous :D! I study every file that goes on or off my Clie. My Clie is loaded with apps, and it has pretty much worked for me. The main problem arises when users wille-nillie delete stuff through their launchers and file managers. They tend to forget there is associated stuff with the apps. Consequently, crumbs get left behind. Greg is right that the delete may not be 100%, but it's fairly close. Some like to run a lot of hacks, drivers, and stuff that just adds to the complexity. In my opinion, the Clie is then more prone to crashing and other weird anomalies.

I find some of the questions in the thread similar to "how do I delete programs in rom I don't need".... I have a lot of friends that are not super savvy on their PC, and call me when it dies... with "I was just cleaning up my hard drive, and deleting files I did not need".. you can guess the rest...

As a software reviewer I install and later uninstall a lot of different pieces of software. I have evaluated both this piece of software and also the latest update for it. Unless you're confident enough in your ability to manually delete your applications, it's preferences, and all associated files (whether they appear to be associated with it or not) than I would recommend this program whole heartedly. If you would like to read my review, it can be found on Clie Planet under Software Reviews.:)

My first advice is unless you have a problem, use the regular "method" of deleting a file.... the "extra" files are usually small...
The next stage would be to use a piece of software that has a favorable review, and has been out long enough to see if there is a problem.
I do not recommend what I do. I've been "tweaking" Palms since they came out. I back up all the time. I've had as many as 16 hacks all going at the same time and had a stable system. Unless you are nuts like me and invest the time to learn and experiment and back up to protect yourself, your ROI (return on investment) will be bad.
