I just can't remember how to set OSX so that, when I double click on a Palm file, it is moved into the Install window. Most of my Palm OS files say "Fireviewer Document" in their description. When I double click on them, the program Graphics Converter opens up?!?!? I know there's a setting to tell the OS which app handles which types of file. Can anyone remind me of how to set this properly??? Thanks!

control-click on the file you want to open with hotsync manager.
go to "get info"
in the box that opens, open the "open with" section
select "hotsync manager"
then hit the "change all" button
that's it
don't use the "open with" command that shows up when you control-click on the file. using that doesn't let you set it to default for all similar files.
if you do this with a .prc file and again with a .prb file they will all open into the installer program.
good luck:D

Parmesian,
Thanks for the info. It seems to work for the individual files, but NOT for all other files with similar names. I definitely selected the "Change All" option and it even gives me a warning "Are you sure you wish to apply this to all files?" prompt. I select yes. But, none of the other files change. I even tried logging out and back in, but still no change. Am I doing something wrong?

when you say none of the other files change, do you mean the icons don't change or when you double click on them they don't open in the install program or both?

I got it! I actually had to go through the process twice. I did as you suggested with .pdb and .prc files, then restarted... but all other .pdb and .prc files (except the two I used) were still listed as "Fireviewer document". So, I repeated the exact same process with another .pdb and .prc file and then restarted. Upon restart, all .prc and .pdb icons had changed and they were all listed as "Handheld program files" (or something similar). Thanks for the help... now double-click moves them into the hotsync install window. Much appreciated!!!
