If anybody is even considering getting this device, DON'T.
I was curious about it when a client bought one and wanted to use it with his compy.
Dear god, if this is typical of Windows Mobile then PalmOS has nothing to worry about - The biggest problem was that the device was SO DAMNED SLOW!!
I mean, seriously, you could see the *screen* *redrawing*!
I tried resetting it, clearing everything out but it just wouldn't speed up!
We tilted the screen round, and the display took so long to redraw and reorient that we thought it had locked up. When it finally finished, it was upside down and wouldn't go back until we reset it again.
In the end I told him he'd be much better off taking it back swapping for a Treo 650... something I thought I'd never do!

I also suggest the Treo to people even though I'd never get it because its a great device, just doesn't suit me. That sucks to hear that though.

The Organge M5000 like the JasJar and XDA Exec can be tweaked to be made much quicker:
- use the default MS Today screen background
- disable error reporting
- disable Beam
- using a dummy server set ActiveSync to manual#
- install GSPMagic+
My Exec has a mode called Corporate Mode which includes very little in terms of Network customisation and it runs very well. Obviously, being a WM5 device you do need to reset it otherwise it runs short on RAM. But there are people out there who are willing to live with such issues and spend a lot of money on such devices- honest!

*sigh*
Don't you miss the days when you could just buy a freaking phone/PDA and just have it WORK out of the box?!

@Cyker, I bought a WM5 to see what all the fuss was about. The funny thing is that WM5 devices do require a lot of investment from the user to get the best from them but many people seem to be happy with this (also seem to be tolerant of the buggy O/S). Support is also a major headache for some WM5 devices (M$ wont take responsibility for s/w problems). But magazines and news/review sites like www.infosyncworld.com are happy to promote devices just because they have a great spec sheet. In the UK I saw a review of the T-Mobile MDA Pro in a major cellphone magazine that gave it a rating of 90 points from 100 - and it was obvious the magazine were reviewing from the spec sheet and had not actually used the device!!

I know what you mean :(
This is the problem - I've noticed that as computers have been becoming more mainstream, Companies have discovered that they can sell CRAP, and most people will buy it!
Whereas in the old days, only the techie types would buy computer gear and would steer clear of shitty products, forcing companies to put some actual effort into developing them.
I mean, is it me or are things just getting more 'check-box' features but becoming less usable and stable?
Some exceptions that come to mind are things like MacOS X (And I'm a PC man ;)), but look at how PalmOS, Windows, heck, even Google are just becoming more and more... *crap*!
