Hi,

Is there another application besides MochaPPP that does the same thing. Mocha can not see COM port numbers higher that 8.

Thanks,

If you have windows 2000 or xp there is a program called softick or from softick. Either the link is

If you do a search I believe there is a way to do this just using Windows XP.

Plessdude,

For WinXP you can set up a PPPoe connection which is listed as a Broadband Connection. I'm not sure this would work. You can't associate this connection to a COM port number like you can with MochaPPP. Man all of this in pursuit of Network connectivity via BT. I would rather just use 802.11b/g the setup for that was way easier. If people expect BT to take off it has to be "dummy proof". A BT access point bridged to a LAN would probably solve my dilema. Wasn't BT suppose to be inexpensive?

BTW thanks for the advice on the Hotsynching problem...

Thanks,

Its a much more elegant solution. Check out the Belkin AP. I have been using it for the past month and I love it. Its pretty cheap compared to the Pico Blue AP.

How does that work with the access point? I'm set up with a Windows 2000 incoming connection - so while it was a pain in the *** to setup, the concept of a "dialing-out" from the Palm and an "incoming call" to the Windows system makes sense.

What happens in the case of a Bluetooth access point? You'd have to still be initiating a "dialing-out" type connection from the Clie, right? What's the mechanism on the other end? I was thinking about the Belkin access point as well (not getting the best reception off my dongle so far - but it's only Class 2).

You're right - BT will never gain mass acceptance if the devices are this difficult to configure.

Thanks!

I would imagine their would be a LAN profile that would map the BT connection to an IP address via DHCP. The BT AP may have a DHCP server built in... Check out this link http://www.tomshardware.com/network/20030408/index.html this may answer some of your questions...

I finally got Networking access to work without using MochaPPP. Instead I just RAS with my XP laptop. It works but is such a pain in the arse. Setting up an 802.11b WAP is way my easier.

Thanks,
Jhason

With Mocha, you can only have one device connected to surf the web at a time. It's a shame. =(
