View Full Version : Dead pixels
Hi,
I've just bought TG50 and realized that there is one dead pixel on the screen. I wonder how often it happens on TG50. Do you have the same bad luck :-(?

I have to ask... are you sure you're seeing one pixel? One pixel is .00098% of the pixels, or .17 square mm. I would think that would be pretty hard to focus on.

I've got one on my SJ30 :(
So, well, maybe it is more than just one pixel. It is not disturbing me too much, I can live with it but I'm just a perfectionist ;-).

Yep. I had one with a dead pixel. I returned it for another only to find----a dead pixel. Looks like three times was a charm for me.

I have no dead pixels here, first try. I don't really mind them I am used to them. It builds machine character.

Right - that's not a big problem.

On my TG50 I had no dead pixels. On my new NX70V though I have one, but I'm having problems with it locking up and hard reseting on me. I will be calling Sony this weekend.

I have had dead pixels on everything I own with a screen recently...I hope my "luck" doesn't hold up when I get a 12 inch powerbook soon...that would make me soooooo sad.

I find that dead pixels on a CLIE screen is unacceptable. With the amount of screen space and the amount of money you paid for, you deserve better than one dead pixel.
Either send the unit back where you got it from for an exchange, or call Sony support for a replacement under warranty.

There is a disclaimer in the box that says that the displays are not supposed to be perfect every time and that it is not acceptable to return the device based on dead pixels...otherwise I think Sony would be getting a boatload of clies back in the mail every day

I had a dead pixel on my NR70v, but it went away after about 2 months.
Give it time, it'll heal itself...

Yes but I think no one could stop you from doing that....
They don't reccommend it but hey, why not if you got the chance?

I just don't see the one dead pixel as being that much of a nuisance. The only time it bothers me is when I stare at it for too long. I had a dead pixel on my NX and on my sj30...but I just didn't make it an issue. Now, on a laptop screen, that is the most annoying thing that can happen. I pray that my luck will change when I get my next laptop because I have been so dead pixel prone as of late.

Did the dead pixel really go away? It really isn't there anymore? I just noticed a dead pixel in my brand new SJ33 which I just received today. I'm contemplating returning it to Sony for an exchange. I really hate having dead pixels. I beleive that for a screen the size of the SJ33's, dead pixels are unacceptable. :(

I have to agree with terue. Here Here!
well, however it's a bit different story i had one dead pixel on my brand new dell latitude c640 laptop, but after 6 weeks it's away .. i hope for ever .. it was kinda anoying and that is a 14,1" screen .. i can't personally imagine having a dead pixel on my clie .. i would sell it on ebay or so immediately ...

One dead pixel anywhere, on any screen is totally unacceptable. If it were me, I would return the same day I got it.
