Hey guys,

Nice to meet you all

Being reading this board for a while now and learnt quite abit as some of you really know your stuff.

Hope you can help me!! Had my LD for a few weeks now and starting to get to grips with it but my question is this. When I select the FILES button (top right button) or select the FILE option from my list of programs it resets my lifedrive and I have to wait a few minutes for it to come back on. I can browse through the HD whe selecting a music file.

Hope you guys know how to solve this problem.

Thanks

Leeds

Leeds, could you give a list of the third party apps you've installed / deleted? I've had this issue in the past, and think it may be tied to this.

Hi there 05Edge,

I currently have installed

tomtom navigator v5
Technologym

and have deleted

Yahoo Messenger
QuickIM
MM Player
BFL Workout

I just tried it now and it came up with this error message

MMPlayer! Did you delete if from the palm system or did you use FileZ?

I had MMPlayer installed, deleted it using the Palm System, and then Files soft reset on me when I deleted a file, and Word to Go would crash it upon trying to opena word doc. I reinstalled it, and it messed up my Dynamic Heap management and files worked fine for a while, then crashed yesterday. So, this time I used FileZ (which is free) to properly delete MMPlayer (delete all files created by the MMPlayer creator). I've since deleted things from Files and it worked fine.

Also I've had files crash on me after deleting other programs from my LD, and had to do a Hard Reset (before I decided to try this method).

I know this hasn't been the most help, but maybe you could reinstall those progs, then install FileZ and delete them from there. Maybe that'll set Files back to normal, if not, then may have to do a Hard Reset.

I believe I downloaded it from PalmGear. Google search should point you in the right direction.

UPDATE!

MY LD still crashes in files, but only if I use the grafitti commands. It did yesterday, and I just tried today to test it, and it did it again.

The message I get is DataMgr.c,Line:11439, index out of range. So I may have been no help at all.

Files works fine otherwise. I don't know.

Hello,
I have a patched T5. My T5 is rock solid except Files and (the now deleted) PalmRevolt (too bad, PR looks really cool) are about the only things that make it reset. I can understand the 3rd party software, but Files?!? After the soft reset, Files works fine (not worth the reset). I like it, but I just don't bother with it anymore. I have none of the above mentioned software on my T5. I don't know if this helps, just wanted you to know your not alone and it's not only a LD problem.
Have a great day!
Louis :)

In my case it was PalmPDF that made my LD crashed on files. Maybe it's often a combination of apps cuz I know PalmPDF works fine with others. I uninstalled it and my files app is working fine again!

Ok, along these lines. I reproducible can crash the LD. I open blazer (doesnt matter if wifi on or off), close it again, hit the 'Files' icon and boom. So just to make it clear, this happens by just launching Blazer and exiting without accessing the web at all!!. Sometimes it automatically restarts after the crash and reports a problem with Files - Datamgr.c line XYZ - but more worryingly, sometimes it just crashes, blinks as if it going to start the reset and then stays off. I then have to reset manually.....sigh....I really wonder sometimes if the frustration with this bloody device is worth it... Just to say this is absolutely reproducibleand doesnt happen with any other app AFAICT..

update...also happens with long press on home button (all other taskbar buttons ok..).

error is

'A reset was caused on 15/1/06 at 20:32 while running "ApplSlipHome":
MemoryMgr.c, Line:3771, Free handle'

somthing is corrupted I guess...

Jeez I've just about had it with this machine. I clearly need to do another hard reset and fresh install (3rd time now)....I feel ebay calling again...
