Actually don't know here to start, but this app is a real gem. Searching within databases, see the results directly in the programm, search on the card withing defined databases and txt documents and ....
Its hard to know where to stop drooling about it. Yes it takes up some ram - but thats worth it. Yes you have to disable every other app that uses the find icon - but its worth it.
Try and buy

and see here too

By the way - great support - answers nearly inmediatly

I also really like this program, and registered it. The author has posted here, I've posted here... for whatever reason, this app just doesn't seem to generate much interest!
Check out the posts about 4cast! I think they're up to page 8 already (and counting) ... I'm the first (and so far, only) response to your post about FindWiz...
Go figure....

Crippled app with e-mail registration isn't going to bring in too many punters! Make it a full app with a time constraint and people, even I, may give it a try!

That's what I wanted to say too. I tried it but it gave only 6 hits. Since it replaced the built in search, I had to delete Findwiz to be able to continue using the built in search.
Why I bought Agendus was because of it's generous trial period. After the trial, I found I was actually using it and cannot go without it. The natural move was to purchase it. Just remove the limitation of 6 hits and see the sales boost up.

May I also suggest a toggle to enable/disable. I know that the author has discussed this and said that people didn't know they had to enable it unless they read the manual. However, just about every application that modifies the OS this way requires enabling. For example, FindHack, ClipPro, QLaunch, HandyAid, etc. etc.
With an enable/disable toggle it's easy to compare this app to FindHack to the default Find. May the best search win.

How does it compare to this search utility (http://www.palmgear.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=software.showsoftware&PartnerREF=&siteid=1&catid=169&area=software.category&searchtitle=Utilities&searchterm=&step=5&orderby=sales&direction=asc&userid=0&prodid=4724)?
(White Nuckles,Brjlk) Crippled app with e-mail registration isn't going to bring in too many punters!
I will try to release version 4.2 (within 2 weeks hopefully) with a full-featured 30 day demo. I just have to make sure the demo is as difficult to re-install as it would be DocsToGo by Dataviz. Some users are unscrupulous as you can appreciate.
Also, my website e-mails you a registration code automatically when you purchase, if thats's what you were asking, even if I happen to be playing tennis at the time.
How does it compare to this search utility? (IntelligentFind)
FindWiz is the only search utility that displays your hit records without having to launch the host application (a big time saver), searches any text data (even if the host app does not support this), searches SD cards plus other features that are unique (just peruse the features list at my site).
More features are coming in my next release. I try to implement good suggestions from users. Just look at the various individuals I've given credit to on my web site (in the History).
Thanks for your suggestions, by the way. Hopefully you're right that issuing a full featured demo will boost by sales.
(bobbd) May I also suggest a toggle to enable/disable
This is done easily in the prefs. Just uncheck the "Find" pref.
Bye for now.

You didn't have to delete it. Going into Preferences of FindWiz, you'd have found an item marked "Find"... unchecking that box would return the built in Find to your device, while allowing you to play with FindWiz by simply launching it like any other program. Recheck the Find item in preferences, and you can now launch FindWiz using the same silkscreens or menu items you previously used to launch the built in Find.
This app has WAY more features then other Find replacements I've tried, and the author continues to listen to his customers, and add new features.
All for a whopping $9.95! If anyone hasn't tried this program, check it out!
(By the way, I received a registration code within five minutes of registering. I'm not sure what the issue is with his using e-mail to send out registration codes, but perhaps someone could explain how they feel he should do it. It is automated, and sent out right way after receiving payment)

Hello All,
I have just installed FindWiz and I have not been able to download the manual. :o
I'm trying to select the database for my address book - linking to "Contacts5". I'm only able to see the default address book. :(
What am I missing? Can I select the program Contacts5? In other programs like IntelligentFind and FindHack you can select the program search and not search the preinstalled address book. :D
Any suggestions? Is it possible?
Thank you

I just downloaded the manual today, in PDF format, from the website. Not sure what problem you're having downloading the manual.
To answer your question, go to "Menu/Opt./Select Databases to Search, and select that option.
You'll be brought to a screen listing all databases, with check boxes to the right of their name, and a number to the left, 1), 2), 3), etc.
Click on the number for the database you want to assign another program to launch, such as ContactsDB-PAdd. Tapping on this number brings up a list of Apps, and allows you to link any app to a particular database.
Hope this helps...

You can also tap on the CA icon & toggle it fm red to green & it'll search on records in the app that was current when FindWiz was invoked.
Check out the docs & help screens, they are context sensitive.
I'm a registered user & can testify to the fact that Richard, the author is quite responsive to reasonable requests for new features & has done so with a couple of mine.

Hello Shel and Eli,
Thank you both for your responses. I was able to down load the file. I was browsing with FoxFire the first then I tried with IE. That was it (at least for me).
Thank you again, I'll try your suggestions :)

Hi again, White Knuckles.
FindWiz 4.2 is now available, with a full-featured 30 day demo (no more retardation!)
It also has a couple more features and some important fixes that ensure that searching expansion cards will NO LONGER malfunction with any files, including non-pdb. Note also that you can specify in the preferences which extensions on cards you would care to search (.pdb, .csv, .dat and so on). So please have a look and see if this is the search utility that could meet all your needs.

Hi Bob (fellow Ontarianite),
FindWiz has always had (and still does) a preference to turn the Find icon on/off whenever the user wishes. It's only in recent versions that I have made the Find icon go on by default when the program was installed because people did not know this was available unless they read the documentation. You know yourself that when you unwrap that new printer and plug it in while the bubble wrap is still on the floor, you just want to see if it works. The manual will only come out if there is a problem. Same thing with new software, right?
Anyways, FindWiz is a lot more easy to use "right out of the box" than all it's screens and options would suggest, but a comprehensive PDF guide is available to be perused by the "power user" who is very picky about how his search utility works (White Knuckles, for example?).
Hope this clarifies a bit the intentions I had behind it's design.

Hi again, Bob.
I told another member of this forum a few weeks ago that FindWiz locking the key automatically during installation was an experiment. Well your suggestion and the experience of other users lately has convinced me to return to the mode wherein the user must set it manually after installation. During installation the user will get the following message:
"Please set the Find option in the FindWiz preferences if you wish to enable FindWiz to be started with the Find silkscreen icon. You MUST first turn off any other lock on the Find icon."
So the version just published at the product page contains that change along with a fix and some small improvements.

OK White Knuckles,
Other users have complained about having to use an e-mail to get a demo so that's no longer a requirement. You now get a full-featured 30 day demo just by clicking on the link and downloading.

I realy like this soft.
If you want to talk about it in french, you can go to : http://forum.palmattitude.org/index.php?showtopic=30919&st=0
There's a " findwiz pour les nuls " = "findWiz for dummies"

A question about FindWiz Export:
Instead of exporting the result of a search to the PC, could it be possible to export the result to a palm memo ?
If you add the tag of PSlink, it's fabulous ! (With the possibilty to use my own tag.)
something like FindMemos : http://pegros.free.fr/softs/index.php

Hi guys,
I had a little trouble with FindWiz on my TX when launching the first time. It reset as soon as I touched the icon. I deleted it, and then pFindTool, re-installed FindWiz but the same thing happened every time I launched it.
Would this be connected to having MyKbd reassigning the first status bar icon to home, and the second to Find by a long tap?
The reason I mention it is because I do not remember having this issue on my T5.
Cheers
Andy

Maybe ?
I don't use MyKbd but it causes a crash when you assign 2 search functions to the "find" icon.
There's maybe a problem with the short and long tap ??
