View Full Version : MemoSafe versus CryptoPad

I have been a long-time CryptoPad user. I wanted some place to store encrypted passwords and other information. The integration with MemoPad made it easy to use. The fact that it was free was a bonus. I had tried a few "password keepers" but they weren't as convenient. I save some information that doesn't easily lend itself to the password format.

I was still using version 3.64 because I had some initial problems with the first few versions at the 4 level. And I didn't need the new features.

From time to time something would mess up and I'd lose something. The fact that the Windows utility was not reliable (at least for me) meant that as a backup, I would decrypt everything and save it to my desktop computer, and then re-encrypt.

Based on what I read on ClieSource, I decided to try MemoSafe. I like the interface and the fact that the encryped data is still part of the memo db (CryptoPad's encrypted memos are in a separate db). It has a nice Windows utility so I can decrypt data on my Desktop if needed. As far as I can see, the only thing I'm missing is the 32K memo support that CryptoPad had. I'm certainly not worried about the registration fee.

Are there any other things I should be aware of before I register?

Thanks

Bob

I use a free app called Cipher (www.klawitter.de/palm) which encrypts whatever is on the clipboard. I store most of my logins, etc. in BrainForest - usernames in plaintype, passwords encrypted. Been working this way for 3 years!
