New NX Better than NZ?

I just my bought my NZ, and now there are rumors about a new NX? If it is better than the NZ, I hope it comes out soon, so I can exchange my NZ.

theres been rumors of a new NX since the NX was first released. Its nothing new. I doubt a successor to the NX will be "better" than the NZ per se.

Hopefully the battery will be better and it'll be smaller. Agreed the 1mp pic not as good as the 2mp. Maybe that means that there will be a 3mp higher clie coming out.

with the rumours, the nx price reduction i would say announcement late april/early may - availability worldwide may/june. don't now whether it would make sense to market the new one in the middle of summer.

regarding it's features, please sony, hear my demands:

> keep nx form factor (a little lighter, a little smaller, you do it)
> add more ram, ok
> use the latest palmOS (5.2 or later)
> add built-in bluetooth
> make two versions ("std./pro" -> entry/features)
> add build-in wlan, maybe add little antenna if necessary (only in pro)
> use 802.11g draft for wlan
> skip the cf slot (once you do not want to risk ms business ;-)
> give us two ms slots (so you sell even more ms ;-)
> make one ms slot i/o compatible, the other maybe just memory
> improve the camera as long as it does not have a bad impact on the form factor
> optimize included apps
> give us a longlasting, rechangable battery; although there is a new clié every 3 months i want to be able to use my device as long as i want - regarding ongoing operation and longlasting usage.

now the initiator of this thread needs to check what on this wishlist would make him want to replace his nz ;-)

One thing that I think the next NX should have is a small connector near the camera where you can plug in a little flash bulb that would be included in the box. This way you could only carry it around when you need it, so you get night-time pictures without a bigger PDA.

One other thing that would be REALLY cool (if they could do it) would be to use the IR port and camera in tandem to allow for infrared nighttime vision. They'd probably have to boost the IR port's power a little, but that means more range for the remote functions.

Last, but not least, they should update remote commander to give it a learning ability, a la omniremote. This way, if a device you want to control isn't in the database, you can program it to work.

To make that (remote thing) easier sony should release more drivers. That is so doable but they just need to do it! Oh well...we can always hope that somehow they will listen someday.

two MS slots wouldn't work cuz it would cut into SONY's higher capacity cards.

Why buy a 256mb card if you can just put in two cheapo 128mb memory sticks?

i second regarding the remote;

i don't think two ms-slots are a problme yOyOYoo, the newer models might be faster with MSPro; also 1 slot could be still used for BT/WLAN-sticks once those options won't come built in. Plus you would have the opportunity to copy from stick to stick. I tend to currenty use 1x 128 for data and stuff which reaches it's limit. I might opt vor 256 or 512 with better prices. But i would still like to have an extra 128 with let's say music. With one slot, I always have to decide, this or that - especially with important apps and data on the stick. They may stick the second slot if they boost RAM to - let's say - 64 mb though ;-)

I DON"T CARE. Sony makes me wait too long !!! I have given myself enough excuses to upgrade !!!

Just give me OS 5.2, 320X480, Hires+, MS Pro compatible, and Bluetooth...I can't wait any longer !!!! This thing is driving me nuts.

The NX is already better than the NZ. Sure the camera on the NX isn't as good but you can't fit the NZ in your pocket unless you wear MC Hammer parachute pants.

With the recent price drop of the WLAN cards, I see the new NX dropping the CF Slot in favor of dual MS slots and functionality for the WLAN MS.

My NZ fits just nicely in my pocket; in fact I hardly even notice it. I agree that when you look at it or hold it it does seem a little big, but you get used to it, and I think the size is excellent. It provides a very "full" feel.

How could the new NX be better then the exisitng NZ when we don't have anything concrete on it? All we can be sure of is that Sony is coming out with a replacement model sometime between the end of April and the beginning of June.
