Alex,

8-Bit Status Bars that used to load fine are for some reason causing nasty crashes now! It's a loop crash that I have to do the warm reset procedure and delete the 8-bit SB that caused it and then reset. For comparison testing, one (of many) that causes this is "Gant_NX_Status."

The several older SBs that are causing crashes are ones that I have used many times since the first version of ClieSkinner up to the near latest release, without problems. I haven't used one in a while so I'm not sure if the latest release of ClieSkinner is the problem or not. I have tried various combinations of the 16-bit options in Preferences, but nothing prevents the crashes.

Added: Just reinstalled registered version 1.56 and "Gant" loads successfully! Something not right in 1.61 (which says 1.60 in about screen).

When does the crash happen? When loading?

Yes, when you select an older, 8-bit SB, then tap load and after a moment it causes a reset which results in a reset loop, due to improperly applied SB (I guess). The SB does get loaded because it's in RAM after a warm reset. Deleting it and resetting fixes the problem. There were several crashes, however where a warm reset and access to a file manager program would not work, i.e. would get the black, frozen reset screen. I had to do a hard reset/restore several times playing with this problem to figure out what was going on!

Well, I don't know whether anyone else has tried, or even uses the older NX/NR Status Bars. But with 1.61 I couldn't load any of mine (not that I use them much anymore either), and trying to remember which ones are older 'cause the name doesn't always give it away . . . well, not good. Anyway, I've been running 1.56 Registered all day with no problems and I tested all the ones that had crashed with 1.61 and they all work fine.

Alex,

Just wondering if you've been able to reproduce this?

Email me a copy of the offending skin and I'll look into it eventually.

Sent you two (of more than a dozen). No rush, 1.56 is working flawlessly. ;)
