View Full Version : Install or not install?
I just got my NZ yesterday and was wondering if I should install the softwares that came with the unit. Since the unit has tons of pre-installed software so space is precious. What have you found that is useful and what I should ignore?

What do you want your Clie to do?
If you want to web-browse... you might want NetFront to be installed .. (over 2mb)
If you want to view documents... ensure Picsel viewer is installed, or find yourself a replacement viewer (like RepliGo)
I did install quite a bit of the extra stuff.... but I moved most of that to my Memory Stick (MS).
If you don't have a MS ... you really should get at least a 128mb one.... that way you can take pics/movies ... record audio... listen to MP3s. You should have a MS.. so you can backup your Palm to it as well.
Frequently used apps should go in Internal RAM ... infrequently used apps ... migrate over to your MS.
Some apps don't work well on the MS. Search the NZ forum for this. Some will work if you move them using PowerRun and/or ZLauncher. Best to start investigating some of these products. :)
Some replacement software is good as well. I like DateBK5 instead of the regular datebook program that comes with the CLIE. Some like the Agendus datebook replacement program. As time goes on ... you will see how precious your internal RAM is, and the need for a MS if you don't have one. Many of the good apps out there for the NZ have large file sizes.
