View Full Version : Agendus loses appointments on HotSync

Just noticed this tonight: any new appointments entered into Agendus sync across to Outlook but then disappear from Agendus! If I have them linked to a trip, they're still held under the trip but not in the normal calendar views. (Change the date on the appointment through the trip view and it reappears in the normal view - until the next HotSync)!

Setting HotSync for Palm to overwrite desktop doesn't change the behaviour - appointments still disappear from the Palm.

I've checked the calendar database through the native app and, sure enough, the entries aren't there!

For the time being, I've set HotSync to do nothing with the calendar; I rarely check my calendar in Outlook, and it's backed up regularly with BB & BBVFS, so that's not a real issue - I'd like to know why this is happening, though. Address book and tasks appear to behave normally.

Any ideas?

(Palm T5, Agendus 10.04, Outlook XP, HotSync Manager 6.0.1).

Hi Steve,

While you've provided a good deal of info, there is some critical info still needed to help diagnose the problem. But before I attempt, have you searched Iambic's forums? There's a wealth of problems, solutions, and acknowledgement of bugs that will be fixed going on there.

I see you have a T5, and as a Sony only user, I'm not familiar at all with your syncing product. What Outlook conduit are you using, i.e. does Hotsync 6.0.1 sync to Outlook or are you using Intellisync/PocketMirror/Other? Are you also using Agendus Windows Outlook Edition (desktop)?

WellsJS,

Sync straight to Outlook. I've not even tried Agendus for Windows as I only really use Outlook for email, not as a diary - that's what my T5 is for (so I only really need to ensure contacts get synchronised with my T5, which seems OK). AFAIK, the Palm HotSync app does it all - there may be a "lite" version of Intellisync or Chapura, etc behind the scenes, but nothing that appears in any settings (unlike the Clie software).

I've posted a parallel query on the iambic forum to see if anyone there has had teh same experience.

As I said above, I can fix the issue by not syncing my calendar and relying on two parallel backup regimes - it's just annoying that this has suddenly started happening and it's comforting to know that Outlook has a mirror of my diary (just in case)!

Steve,

http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/outlookconduitupdaterv102.html

needs to be applied to your conduits. There is a sticky over at Iambic on this....actually there are two sticky threads in the forum that you posted in.

And then please consider this: Agendus uses the native databases and simply encodes information into the notes field to view icons and history information etc. As such it does not control or more importantly impact the conduit's nor the databases other than adding the notes field as mentioned.

I have both a 650 and T5 and neither are losing appointments but I also use Pocket Mirror Pro because I don't think Palm's conduits on the new NVFS devices is worth a plugged nickle.

The Trips database is the only separate database being used and it's backed up during hotsync.....or should be. But the Trips database only shows you the trips...when your viewing a meeting that's part of the trip that meeting is stored in the normal datebook database.

Please check your conduit setup: it should be Syncing Calendar to Outlook and all other conduits to Outlook with the exception of System and Card and backup.

Over at TreoCentral there were a couple of other reports of "lost" appointments and in most cases it was resolved by the update that I posted at the top of this thread or by the individual purchasing Pocket Mirror Pro XT.

I'm 99% certain that this is a Palm conduit issue but only leave the 1% only because I never give absolutes but with as many Agendus users that we have, it's doubtful that it's not a conduit problem.

The only other possibility: NVFS devices will not save data that been entered during a session if the device suffers a soft reset during that session. If you enter an appointment and then exit Agendus and then do some other work before the device powers down and you suffer a soft reset - the T5 will lose all changes.

Also, there is besides the conduit update - another update for the T5 that should also be applied if necessary so play around a little at the Palm web site if you haven't applied some of these updates to your device.

I'm extremely busy and won't be able to reply to this thread for probably a couple of days so post back and be patient and we'll see if we can help get to the bottom of this issue.

As far as I can tell, I've got the latest T5 and conduit patches (and I've reapplied the Conduit 1.02 to make doubly sure). I'd agree that I don't think it's likely (99%) to an Agendus issue, but I'm puzzled as to why it's happening. The 1% is the Agendus Trip database - it shows entries that have otherwise disappeared from the calendar database - and lets me edit them; if I change the date on one, it then reappears in the calendar. I can only guess that the Trip database holds a mirror of these appointments.

It seems to be any appointment added since the weekend - anything entered before then seems fine but anything added now disappears! A new appointment added today has now appeared in Outlook but disappeared from Agendus (and Calendar). I've switched off the calendar conduit by default - just ran one HotSync to see if it's still misbehaving (which it is) and restored the calendar database via BBVFS.

Ooooh, I had a good answer for that. But I'll refrain in the name of peace and civility. ;)

Since the main point seems to be a problem in the conduit, not Agendus...
