 Hi, can anyone tell me why I keep getting low memory warnings when trying to load apps, palm apps & 3rd party ones (even though I have 28 MB ROM and 2,6 GB available), and more importantly how to sort it out? Palm support are useless, they say the LD's cache size is about 10MB (fine, so what) but WHY doesn't the cache dump older stuff to make space for the app one is trying to load??? everytime the cache gets full u have to reset the LD?? I cant believe its that badly designed... its ridiculous having to reset the LD everytime I get the warning, cant one clear the cache manually? this recurring problem is REALLY irritating...

Most important here is probably the dynamic heap rather than the storage cache. On the LD, the DH is 4Mb which becomes fragmented., At this point the only solution is soft reset (this is true of any pda afaik). The storage cache does and should dump old stuff to make room. The DH should be cleared on exit. Can you give an example of the problem you are having??

one example is when i launch slideshow (10 photos with ave size of 90kb each) during the transition to the 2nd photo i get the 'not enough memory to perform this task' warning. then i've had the same warning when trying to launch other apps too. Thanx

how large are your pics (in pixels). Also, are you using any of the 'sexy' slide transitions in media viewer. If your pics are large (not in filesize but in total pixels), these can have a problem. In my experience, camera pics should be resized to 640x480. This or less shouldnt cause too many problems. There is nothing wrong with your machine. You are just experiencing some of the limitations of this device!!

Hi SoS, the pixel size of all photos is 640x480 or less and I'm not using any of the 'sexy' transitions....so I'm still not sure why the problems?? any other ideas? thanx again.
