Just wondering if anyone has experienced doing a soft reset and having it come out a hard reset.

I did the other night after installing the updated Wi-Fi driver from Sony.

That was the only time I've ever seen that happen.

Tixx,

Yes it has happend to me a couple of times in the past. Not recently though, even after upgrading my WLAN driver. It's like when you least expect it. Whether it's corrupted RAM or a bug in the OS5, I don't know. What I do know, is the need for having a good current backup.

Both of you seem to be using wireless stuff, though I have never used it myself or installed the upgrade. Thank Buddha:) for BackUpMan and its scheduled backups.

It happened to me once, it was the weirdest thing because I was watching a video and the screen got frozen, I did a soft reset and it became a hard reset :(

I have probably had this happen 5 or 6 times since i bought my NX. Its annoying as hell and can't put a finger on what causes it.

Eject the WiFi and Memory Stick before resetting. Has fixed it for me 100%; used to have hard resets every two or three days before I figured that out. (The CF slot draws too much power during a critical stage of bootup.)

I have a MS, but no CF.

Maybe it's the MS slot? All I know izzat ejecting both cards has kept me from having any hard resets for at least two months. Sony did release some kind of system update for the MS slot, didn't they?

I encountered Hard resets after cancelling a hotsync(no installs!).
Also sometimes when a program freezes I do a soft reset but loose all information.
Now scared I nearly make an Backup every morning and evening..

Funny, I do tons of soft resets because of Photoskin and hung connections, and it never happened to me.
I use a CF analog modem, and sometimes when the connection hangs up, I do a soft reset to leave it and it never happened. What I do get sometimes when I reset inside Clie Mail is that the pdb files get corrupted and I have to get them back from backup.

sometimes my nx freezes with big documents in wordtogo. a soft reset turns into a hard reset and unfortunately erases all of my Western European History Notes which i have just then completed. The only solution is frequent backups.
