Palm Reader (http://ebooks.palm.com/product/detail/19286)?
Yes, but when I wrote this compilation I was thinking in applications spetially designed for Clie (like Landscape/Portait, CliePet programs, JAmerican mods, ... ), low-level apps (I mean: near the hardware, not low quality of course) and so that
Perhaps if we add other type of applications it could become too big
If I add eReader why not add PalmFiction, iSilo, Mobipocket, Plucker, ...
And DTG, Mobisystems Office, ....
What do you tink?
Should we have a "usefull software non-Clie specific"

What's the difference between the "Driver-Free Clie on XP" and the Data Import already on the UX ?

Hi

What's the difference between the "Driver-Free Clie on XP" and the Data Import already on the UX ?

Thanks
James
With the driver free version you don't need to install anything on a WinXP machine to connect your UX as an external drive. You simply connect to the XP machine and tap Data Import on your UX. This is convenient if you want to connect to an XP machine that doesn't have Data Import drivers installed on it.

Hey there.

This is probably my first post since 2003 or something around that :)

I came to the thread because I have to install the Palm Desktop for Clie but my original CD was probably lost in a country-change more than two years ago. I've been using the Clie on my mac with Missing Sync since day one, so I never had any need for it.

Now I need to install some software for which the provider (viamichelin) decides should be done from their own application and now from PRC and PDB files directly.

So I need to install Palm Desktop, on a Windows parallelized virtual machine, to be able to do so.

Do you guys have any clue where the heck can I get Palm Desktop for Clie so I can install it there? I anticipate I'll have problems with having the Palm synchronized in two different computers but I can deal with that.

I didn't see any links to the Desktop installer in the original post, so I thought I'd ask and motion for the desktop alternatives (for Linux and Mac) to be included as important resources for those that may need them.

Gracias

Eduo

Kosh: I appreciate the link. I already knew about it and got the full ISO. My comment was more aimed at editing the original message and including the information there clearly. As it's supposed to be a "summary" message I thought it wouldn't hurt to put it there in text specifically.

In a different thread I did ask for what should one do, these days, to make the latest version of Palm Desktop to work with the Clie (which has been answered) because my ViaMichelin software refused to install with the original CD one (gotten from sonyclieorg.org) so I was really looking for the latest version and in the end I realized I had to go with the official Desktop from Palm or it wouldn't work.

In the end nothing worked anyway, so I installed Viamichelin manually after jumping through a lot of hoops. Now I'm using it and it doesn't work correctly, the bluetooth connection drops a lot, I searched for that too and the recommendation is to delete the BT Cache file, which avoids the problem for only 10 minutes. I'm still looking for another solution to that.

Thanks anyway

This looks like a very useful thread.

I just bought a PEG-UX50/E. I assume the E is for European. Where are the European drivers and updates?

The http://www.clie-link.com site doesn't seem to have any downloads at all and if I go to the global site and admit that I live in the UK it takes me to http://www.sony.co.uk/support which only allows me to choose the SJ or NX series Clies.

I tried the downloads on the US site ( http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=PEGUX50&UpdateType=Everything )

But they don't appear to be for my version of the PEG-UX50. In particular, the CLIÉ Update Wizard asks me to identify which version I have from the letter that follows the / in the model number. I have the PEG-UX50/E but the update wizard only lets me choose U H or G.

Thanks. I wrote a post last night saying I'd found the updates for the UK model hidden in the Compatibility/Connectivity section of clie-link.com (great bit of labelling by Sony there) but it seems I never pressed the Submit button...

There isn't a European version of the CLIÉ Update Wizard though. Does it do anything special, or does it just install the other updates?

:) I am looking for a Sony Clie Installation CD for the UX 40/50. I 'might' have purchased one from an eBayer, but since I haven't recieved it yet (going on 24 days) I can't be sure. I went to the ftp site mentioned earlier, however the download is corrupted so that didn't work.
I figured I'd toss this request up to those who know and see what I can do. Of course I'm willing to pay a reasonable compensation, I just need a disk so I can revive my UX50.
If you can help, contact me.

I use Palm Desktop for Clie 4.1 but nearly never need to run it, so I don't care about that "old" version... or does somebody know what newer version is compatible with Clie handheld?

@matthewsem how big is the Clie CD? I could upload it why not...
