Hi All,
Thought I'd introduce myself. I've been reading Clie source for about 6 months, just been a tad timid in making my voice heard.
I've been playing with the latest version of AvantGo beta and must say am very happy that progress appears to be going in the right direction (especially when using JogPage hack to get around AvantGo's limitations).
I still use Isilo as my main offline browser but the jewell in the crown for AvantGo is its ability to act as a standard web browser.
I am among those that hate NetFront( and PocketLink has never worked on my UK NX70 so can't comment); therefore having an alternative web browser with half the footprint which most importantly will load from the memory card has been a joy to discover. Incidently with regard to getting AvantGo to load from memory card I found bizarely that PowerRun would not work me but using the standard memory card feature within Launcher X works very smoothly.
I've tested the browser through my WiFi connection and via my Nokia phone modem.
Being a news junkie the sites I have tested the connection on are as follows and are all optimised for wireless browsing:
BBC News - http://news.bbc.co.uk/text_only.stm
Ananova - http://pda.ananova.com
Guardian Unlimited - http://www.guardian.co.uk/avantgo
Guardian Unlimited (Film) - http://www.film.guardian.co.uk/avantgo (this site has excellent realtime search facilities on movies and performance times across the whole of the UK - optimised for pda delivery)
Can't comment on normal websites as I've never seen the logic of trying to view a website optimised for 800x600 screen resolution and above, even on the NX's wonderful hi res screen. Given the chance to view in landscape mode may however change my opinion on that one!
Hope I haven't just stated the bleeding obvious for my first post - so be gentle with me.
;-)
