I spared you all from a rant on Picsel ViewerPro and why it is irrelevant now. Maybe I'll use that one next week.

Haven't listened to the podcast yet, but I think I'll have to disagree with you about Piscel. Even though there are other native doc viewers now with pdf support etc, I still think there is a place and chance for Piscel to succeed here. First of all for doc editting, Piscel is obviously not meant for that, it is a viewer and thus there will always be a need for apps like DTG etc. However Piscel is still the best and most robust Viewer app out there imo! I think you shoud instead compare Piscel to products like Repligo etc. The key here imo is the level of browser integration especially with future Netfront browser etc. I would love something like a Piscel-Flash viewer app integrated into the Palmos Netfront web client for example...

Also btw, Walt Mossberg in his WSJ tech article pretty much confirmed a future PalmOS Treo 700 to be released soon! ;)

Ok, I'll accept your point about RepliGo/Picsel Viewer Pro. But, hey, $30 is $30 and if I have to choose to purchase Documents To Go Premium or Picsel Viewer/RepliGo/etc, I'm going with Documents To Go. Why spend $60 when I can get the job done for $30? Ok, let's say you don't use DTG, you can still get PDF view support for free with PalmPDF.

What hasn't been said here yet is if Picsel's contract with the Evil Empire (read: Sony) has finally expired and Picsel can now sell their software directly to the consumer. If that is true, Picsel got screwed by Sony. Once the Clie went under, Picsel should have been jumping up and down to get out of any exclusivity contract(s).

The Viewer engine may have some place when coupled together with ACCESS' NetFront browser, but I'm not really excited about NetFront either. I'll hold out reservation until we get to Palm OS Linux.

(PS: That's a cool Prime avatar. I never liked Hot Rod/Rodimus.)
