Was it released? The ad said release date of 2nd quarter 2004.

Kinda cool the way it can open in two different directions.

Yeah, it was to expensive and never was released in the US. In addition, the screen was not touch because of the Old OS and it was WM, depends how you feel about that. There's a similiar style phone by samsung that does PIM stuff but is not necessarily a PDA.

Perhaps stylus can be used to type on the keyboad?

My boss did it first time he saw my UX50: he took the stylus to press the keys

hehehe, I've seen people do that, too. I don't pick my nose with it, but it does make for a nice ear scratcher

The biggest problem with this device was the lack of memory. I think it came out with 32mb. The few people who had this device (I seem to recall a guy on Howard Forums, "Bengal Boy") kept running out of memory when surfing on the internet, and pages wouldn't open. I also heard people saying the hinge made typing difficult. Not to mention the fact that it's got a 2.8" screen if I remember right, which is even smaller than the UX's. I think the device was fairly underpowered, too, with a slow processor. I do like the funky keyboard layout, but I'm not sure the hinge would have been worthwhile (a cross between an NX and a UX?).

You can bet no one in your local neighbourhood is going to have one though ;)

The HTC Universal is already a little too common for my liking, hence my failed quest to get hold of a Qool QDA700.

Man, where do you live??? I WISH the HTC Universal was commonplace here. If I pull it out, my coworkers start flocking me. I've actually went back to my 4355 because it causes less "hubub" (and because the old 2003 OS is just more stable).

Well put it this way, when even the guy who tests the power points at my place of work pulled an HTC Universal out, I knew it was way too common here in the UK. O2 (among others) are offering it as a free/extremely cheap upgrade to their existing customers. And seeing as everyone in the UK now has a mobile phone...
