What about support for sysAppLaunchCmdOpenDB ?

I love this program, even with its many faults. Hopefully some of them will be fixed in this release.

On a seperate but related note, it seems with every update the preferences are deleted. This is very frustrating, because PalmFiction is such a bear to set up right in the first place! Hopefully they stabilize this process soon.

Some should do, right :-) But I'm very busy and also quite bad in writing help files...
But to add somehting to my own question: Yes, PalmFiction 0.13 does now support sysAppLaunchCmdOpenDB and can even open files on an external medium. Great stuff :-)

This build is MUCH more stable than previous versions. I've yet to have it crash. And, now that I've fumbled my way through most of the customizations, I've got it looking and working quite nicely.

Unfortunately, while 0.12 worked pretty well on my T3, this new version crashes upon opening a txt file, for example :( :( :(

Any ideas?

Thanks!

M.

Paavels,

I registered on the new english forum but it will not allow me to create a new topic or post. Tried 4 times and then quit. So let me ask here.

I can not figure out how to configure PalmFiction v0.13a to read palmdoc (pdb) files. I've looked at all the menus and the only ones I found were the file extension list in the document list configuration pull down and the global settings file association pull down menu. Adding pdb in either has had no effect.

What am I missing? How do I configure PalmFiction to handle palmdoc (pdb) files that eReader handles?

Thanks

Hi,

PalmFiction reads AportisDocs by default. PalmFiction doesn't support the native eReader format which can include images for example. What is the creator id of the file you tried to open?

I cant get PalmFiction 0.13a work in my TC... I already have eReader Pro 2.6.1 and I want to be able to read native RTF files... The strange thing is that Palmfiction starts OK but when I try to read any kind of supported file it crashes (lucky me I have Crash Pro too :) ). An even more weird circumstance: I can look at the info of the RTF file and even convert it to Palm Doc in Memory, so, at least I´ts possible to convert RTF's (downloaded via Wifi) from Palmfiction to eReader. It's a hassle but it works for me. I hope anybody will help with info about how to get Palmfiction work OK in a TC

Paavels,

Thanks for responding here.

Yes I'm using Firefox v1.5.

Raphael,

As for the eReader compatible files I wanted to access, the creator IDs are:
PAdd, PPrs, and Plkr. I also found on one of the distribution sites comments that compressed e-books aren't supported which is probably the issue with my not being able to get PalmFiction to open these files.

Plkr is the Plucker eBook format; you need Plucker Reader to view them... I don't think there's anything else that does (except for possibly a java [not j2me] app).

I cannot believe how fast this build opens Word docs. It is almost instantaneous! Well done. If the devs can only keep it from crashing when PalmFiction encounters something in the doc that it doesn't recognize (e.g., an image) then it would be almost perfect.

That's strange. I have had absolutely no problems with PalmRevolt and PalmFiction on my TX.
