My wife total surprised me this Christmas and bought me a Canon 24-70 f2.8 L lens for my 20D. :D What a lens!!! The color and contrast are unbelievable. Pictures are very sharp and the auto-focus is fast and quiet. So far I have only taken family pictures with it but, as soon as the weather gets a little better around here I will go outside to take some and post them here (if anyone is interested.)
Did anyone else get some nice goodies for their digital camera this year?

does she have a sister? ;)
congrats on the lens! no, nothing for me yet... though I am thinking of replacing my cheap telephoto. I messed up a lot of shots and it needs cleaning, focus has never been great... debating on cleaning it, or replacing it. :)

Not only does she have a sister, it's a TWIN!!! :) Totally serious!
Two, two, two mints in one.
Alas, I digress. My wife, I think I'l keep her.

Still waiting to get outside to use my new lens but I thought I would post a recent (November) shot using my other L lens (Canon 17-40 f4.0 L).

Reggie:
Great lens! I have that same one but without the IS. I was too cheap to pay the extra $500 but now I wish I had. I also have the 85 f1.8. I use it a lot in low light situations and for portraits, although the 70-200 is awesome for portraits too, if you have the room.
How long have you had the 20D? Have you had any problems with sensor dust? I haven't had a big problem yet, but it sounds like it's just a matter of when, not if.
You'll have to post some pictures from your new lens when you get a chance.

Gizmo, I've had my 20D since April and I don't have any sensor dust problem (yet). I have the 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM lens packaged with it and I've been loving it!
Here are the first few batches of pics that I took when I first got the 20D:

I'll post some pics using the new lens soon.

It is! :) (Even if you can't really tell in this lower res jpeg.) I shot it in RAW and I am still playing around with it before I finalize the image. You might have noticed the lightpole on the left side. I also need to fix a few other things. Oh well... as they say, great photos are made, not taken.

I disagree. :p I've seen some of your photos and you do very nice work. I'm sure it's the same for you as it is for me: Finding the time to go out and shoot. :)
