Hello all, Sorry if I post this in the wrong section..
I am looking for a new cell that can replace my Nokia 3650. While BT is fun and all, I really want to take advantage of the newer highspeed networks the providers are coming out with. SO my question is what badboy phones can (with an internet plan + availability ) broadcast into a sleek fast 802.11g signal for my PSP?
Thanks in advance for any imput

Have absolutely no idea what can or cannot be done with a Sony PSP. Not sure if any of the Clie users here will be able to answer this either. As far as I know the PSP is a gaming device, not a PDA.

the PSP doesnt matter - its 802.11g
what i mean is can a pda function as a router? using its internet through the provider? phones are using bluetooth for this now, but i want to use WIFI 802.11g so that a psp, or another laptop could all get online

I'm not sure if you can use it as an "access point", but I do know that you can establish a direct connection to it. I'm not sure where you'ld go with that. I wasnt able to trade any files between the two. Of course, another problem is when you connect to the PSP you can connect with another network connection,

The carriers' high speed networks and data plans are not compatible with 802.11 of any variety; they use different hardware and protocols. You will have to find a phone that has WiFi, which are pretty much not available in USA because the carriers want you to purchase their data plans every month.

In theory (though I'm not entirely sure of this), you can probably connect your phone to your PDA via BT, then put your PDA's wifi card into Ad-Hoc mode with the PSP. It would not be the fastest system, but my guess is that you'd at least get something.

and get.....nothing.
You'd need the soft to shuffle packets back and forth between the two connections making appropriate adjustements etc... not a trivial job by any means.
