Sorry no can do, TX uses BT1.1, some units were incorrectly labeled 1.2.

Welcome to 1src!
I suggest these headphones:

They come with an adapter ;)

The actual problem isn't BT1.1 as much as the profile for headphones hasn't been written.
There was some discussion of at least linking palm devices to a BT headset (phone headset), but I don't think that went anywhere. This would be great because even though I would like headphones support, I wouldn't mind using a BT headset.

i will only can this once: it CAN be done! It is possible! It is doable! It has been deon [see troe 650] It is non-portable yt to use treo 650 drivers. You will have to write your own to do it. Good luck.

OK so what do we need to do to get this done?

sleep with PalmOne lead programmer out of the question?

lol Not out of the question but probobly counter productive :) Im sure if enough of us get together and bribe him into doing it, it might get done faster. 8-)

was this line of questioning ever resolved; ie are people listening to their mp3s from the t|x through bluetooth headphones (profile created for t|x BT1.1 ??)?
this was one of my sore spots with the UX; the BT didn't have a profile for listening to mp3s through BT headphones (unlike samsung phones sold in korea which have BT profiles for both sending mp3s and for sending incoming calls to the headset).
btw, has anyone been successful pairing/using a BT samsung phone with the T|X ? which model?

did you ever sleep with a palmOne exec to get the code needed for this?

hmmm. that sounds a little drastic. i already have a bf.
any other suggestions?

well unless you manage to convince me to reverse engineer and do it [and let me tell you - palmOne exec way is easier] i doubt it.
Personally, I'd like to see a full headset profile written (microphone as well as speakers). I don't see Palm doing it, as the T|X is their "hobbled" palm; they already intentionally left out the microphone even though the traces are there on the board.
Then again, what I'd *really* like to have seen is a BT API released by Palm to make it easy for people to write their own profiles. Just have stubs for each piece of hardware in the device.

i'd love that too. also i would love: money to grow on trees, microsoft to OSS windows source code, NSA to declassify all docs about themselves, Iran to stop being asses, and world peace. :-)
as you [correcly] guessed none of those are in any forseeable future
C'mon... is that the best you can do?
I'd like a device that works on all cellphone networks, plus does VoIP over WiFi/Bluetooth/IR/whatever and can interoperate in host or client mode with any BT/USB device out there. This device should have 1PB of persistent RAM, and run at 2THz. And it should be powered by ambient energy, requiring no internal or external power source.

Good luck getting a device to work on all cellphone networks or even getting some of them (the carriers) willing to be in the same galaxy as VoIP. I think Dmitry's wishes will come true first.

Bluetooth headphones would be nice, but I don't think they are really necessary :)

dmitrygr, I am curious: What's the difficult part? (I know nothing about how bluetooth is managed) Capturing the system audio output? Sending audio to the headset?
As a proof of concept, would be easy to do a simple app that just "beeps" to a bluetooth headset on a T|X?

well in treo 650 it is hooked up DIRECTLY to DAC as opposed to a much more taxing software solution. think of the bandwidth required. also palmos does not support the needed bt conection methods so lots of work to do.

This app seems to implement the HID profile. I haven't tested it though.
http://www.palmgear.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=software.showsoftware&PartnerREF=&siteid=1&prodID=59547
So the Bluetooth Headset Beeper might be possible -- however I don't know if HID uses Serial Port profile and that's the reason why he could implement it.
Seems that redirecting all of the system sound to BT is impossible, however. I don't know which compression BT Audio profile uses, but PocketTunes is able to listen to 28Kbps MP3 radio over bluetooth PAN profile -- maybe a standalone, CPU consuming app that just outputs (& inputs) to/from BT Audio would be possible too. Seems a bit useless though.

Looks like someone has figured out how to route the Audio to the BT Audio profile for BT Audio devices.

hehe, i look forward to seing how much it slows the system down

Good point.
Would be nice if you could just route a mono output to a BT headset as well as the A2DP profile. That way people could reuse their BT headsets, or buy one of them rather than the more exspensive BT HeadPhones.
Also having the lower bitrate mon output should help with system slowdown.
Either way, its good to see that someone actually tried to implement this feature.

weird. buy page says demo available, but no demo download.
I also think they should add the normal Headset profile.
it is much simpler then AADP, so should not be hard

I have almost bought the phones you recommend several times, but I am not sure they will work with my Clie UX-50, I have an expensive set of Jabra Bluetooth and I cannot get them to pair. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong, or why the Logitec would work and the Jabra won't?
Thanks,
Pam

I don't know, they shouldn't need drivers or anything if they come with an adapter. It should just be plug and play...

I am surrprised nobody has found the thread about BT headphones and the TX.
www.softick.com has great software called Audio Gateway which does exactly what this thread is asking.
Audio Gateway creates an A2DP profile with many palms including older ones such as the T5 and older.
I recomend using version 1.03 becasue it is less buggy on the TX than newer versions.
It works great for me. I use Jabra BT620s with my TX and it sounds remarkably well.
So far I have tried AudioGateway with TCPMP, Pocket Tunes, and Go MP3. Works with all of them.
