Im back with Palm! & a question on LED charging status

Hi guys, have been lurking on 1src and brighthand forums for a long while now. Have been a PDA user for 7 years, and have switched back and forth between palm & ppc.

Most recently, my TH55 was on its last legs, and decided to switch to Windows Mobile. Had a fairly happy stint with PPC (Dell Axim X51V). Unfortunately, 4 months in, my X51V was stolen, and I was left broke & pda-less.

Chanced upon a 2 month old Lifedrive with screen protector + palm hard case for $260 and decided to jump back to palm with its simpler, more elegant o/s.

Did a hard reset (quick erase) with the charger on, and left the lifedrive overnight to charge. This morning, after more than 10 hours of charging, I noticed that the LED light on the lifedrive was still a steady amber.

The lifedrive shows that its fully charged (lightning icon across battery bar, 100% status), yet the LED is amber and not green as it is susposed to be.

Am at work now, and left the Lifedrive still charging at home, LED still amber. Is my lifedrive a faulty set? the green LED does not show even after 10 hours of charging, although it is fully charged.

Anyone else encounter such a problem with the LEDs? Any help/advice appreciated!

Did you check the status bar and see if it was indeed showing a full charge? Did you upgrade to the latest firmware? I would try that first, then see what happens. Good luck! My light gets confused sometimes, but for the most part goes green when charged. You may have a "dud" light, but certainly not the end of the world if it holds a charge.

for some reason, the green light is a bit flaky and may or may not come on depending on how you are charging/day of the week/cosmic ray backgorund etc etc. Eg - if I charge through the mains, led will green out usually around 80-90% full charge. At this point the thing goes to full charge on trickle. If I charge through the USB port of my desktop (Mac G5), which acrually charges almost as fast as the mains, the light will never go green, even when fully charged. If I use my laptop (12" Mac PB), even the orange light, nor the charging strike on the battery icon appear at all....go figure. Anyway, if it shows 100% charge and behaves like it is fully charged, dont worry!

just to add my two penny's worth, My LD always charged, and when 100% the LED went green. However after the LD Ver2.00 Update from Palm, I have not seen my LD's led go green at all, even though it says 100%. Check to see if you have the V2.00 update installed. I think Wi-Fi lib will be Ver 1.07 on the updated Ld's.

Maybe, but I certainly do have the update on board and my LED does go green as I described above (in fact it has just turned green on my mains charger).
