View Full Version : Hmph! Never had trouble with screen scratches before...

I must have about five vertical and linear scratches on my TG50 screen. This surprises me, because after a T665 and an NR70V, I have never seen a scratch on my clies. I even kept the 665 in my back pocket! I would have thought that the hardcover would have eliminated any possibility of scratches. Maybe lint and such is collecting behind the cover??? I guess I don't really notice them unless the screen is off, thankfully, but I was just surprised.

I had the same problems, but then they kinda disappeared somehow...

Just give it time and a soft lcd polishing cloth.

All it takes is a small particle under the tip of your stylus to cause damage. A screen protector is worthwhile. Personally, I use one until it becomes unbearable to view. Then, I just peel it off and apply another. Back in business. I work in an environment that is full of paper dust. Ever since I scratched up the screen on my Palm Professional, I have used a screen protector. Let's hope you can keep your screen scratch-free.

Well, okay, I'll slap on a screen protector. Never felt the need to use one before, and as such I've never shopped for one. So what brand do you guys recommend? Thanks for any info.

I use the Brando brand.   Lasts long, looks great, less glare.

Am I taking this too personal? I feel like I haven't been helpful......

Anyway...to be helpful, I just use some discounted screen protector from ConceptKitchen. This is originally for PPC...just it have been discounted, then i decided to buy it, cut the sheet into appropiate size for my TG50, the stick on it...

FYI, the screen size is 5.4mm x 5.4mm......

Hope this is helpful.

(But i insist searching the forum, you would be surprised how many threads is on screen protector :D)

Hey Wil,

I guess I may have been trying to give you a lil' passive-agressive stab-wound there! ;)

Sorry, I guess I have always felt it annoying to have someone say "go do a search," and I never tell someone this even if the question has been asked a dozen times. True, there may be a dozen threads out there, but if I've read all twelve threads on the subject, couldn't I just give you the synopsis with one quick reply so that you don't have to search all 12 threads?

Thanks for the advice, though! I will either go Brando per boomer or find the cheapest one out there and cut it per your dimensions. I handn't quite thought about your suggestion, and I'm glad you brought it up.

BTW, I will indeed search the forum, I'm just on my GF's computer using a 56k modem running at a whopping 26K right now--Not optimal for searching :(

Thanks again

P.S. You may want to return your TG50, 5.4mm by 5.4mm is a terribly small screen, I think you got jipped :D

Sneezy, now i understand your feeling...

about 56K@26K, i think I am always at the connection quality...(in fact I am having this right now...not that lucky to have ADSL here...US$150 setup fee, $40/month for 256K....even with d/l limit :()

About returning the TG, I don't think I will. I can still remember the first time I actually said: "Oh my God! It is so stylish" Bear in mind that my mother toung is not English, that would describe the "Woooah" factor.....

Hey wil, I didn't realize you were from Sydney!

As far as connection speed goes, I'm playing on my girlfriend's computer now, but I do have a cable modem back at my place. :) It's also $40 per month (but right now I'm on a $20 per month deal for a few months). Your connection fee there is outrageous...$150...eeeeek!

I was joking about returning your TG50 due to its small screen. I think you meant to say 5.4 cm by 5.4 cm, not millimeters! That would indeed be a small screen--one I'd certainly return!

BTW, your English is excellent, I didn't realize it wasn't your native language as you write very fluently.

Hey Fireman....sorry to take this off topic, but I was wondering, you work in a place with a lot of paper dust yet your nick is fireman and your avatar says fire...I'm missing something here...
