Clearance started this week. If you have your receipt BB will refund you the difference + 10% if you purchased within the last 30 days. Deal can be even better if you want to get aggressive with a manager at CompUSA or CC. Technically they have a 110% price match policy so you could get one for $58.69, that;s $8.69 after rebate. I had just returned a WL100 I had gotten as open box for $130 - $50 rebate (hadn't sent in the rebate yet). I couldn't justify paying $70 for something I was really only using at home. I saw this post and ran to Best Buy right away. They still had them marked at $150. I got mine, and the sales guy there picked one up for his NZ90. I also intruduced him to Zlauncher and GraffitiAnywhere while I was there.

Best Buy has a price match guarantee that goes for up to 30 days after purchase. If they themselves lower the price, they'll match it as well.

All you need to do is take your receipt to their Customer Service counter and ask them to match the price to their current selling price. They'll then give you the difference.

(They usually process it as a return and a re-purchase at the lower price.)

I just got mine from Circuit City for $58.50, I have a BB and CC within a 1/2 mile of each other so I went to BB to make sure of price and then went to CC and told them the price. So they matched it and then gave an extra discount.:D Also the price on the shelf at BB was $99.99. I had to have a salesman scan it in order to find the $66.99 price.

Someone is lying to you. Go back, take your receipt and DEMAND a refund. Talk to the head manager, they did not call corporate because this is a corporate mandated UNANNOUNCED clearance. That means, it gets put on clearance in the computer system and NOT on the floor because they dont want the emplotees to buy them all. They owe you $53. Be nice at fisrt but if they refuse, ask for the district managers info. Unless the person is an idiot they will refund you. For sure a call to the disrict manager will get your money back.

I missed most of yesterday's posts because of work so I was unaware of the 16.99 special, but I walked in to bestbuy to get another cf card and there it was -just one wifi card left. They were even selling there before. They said the other 6 were snapped up by some company manager. I snagged this one and was going to share the good news with you guys, but it appears I'm a day late! And 16.99 short because I snagged it. :) Glad some of you others got in on the deal too. Wish I could understand BB marketing strategy. I've seen with other products as well.

It took four tries but I finally found one. I stopped at the Best Buy near my office (Roseville, MN) but they were out. They checked the computer and found several available at other stores. I drove to one of them (Inver Grove Heights) that said it had 2 but a woman bought both of them while I was driving over. Then I had dinner with my girlfriend (gotta eat sometime) and then headed to another one that had one (Northtown). They sold theirs about half an hour before I showed up. I asked them to check other stores and they found one that had two. They called to reserve one for me and I got directions to that one (Coon Rapids). I finally arrived at the fourth store and picked it up.

Now I just have to wait for my NX-70V to show up from Amazon next week.

I don't know how far he plans to travel, but tell him NOT to try the BB at King of Prussia, PA, or the one in Wilmington, DE. I was at both today and they were sold out! Net Front is slow but decent, I like WebPro better.

I played with the ftp app that I found on this site. Its free but command line driven, not gui so I had to learn a little bit. But even with bluetooth, I can actaully update a simple website from the road. Sure I would need wifi to upload an iamge, but lets say its just text, and I need to update an entry in table, phone number, or something like that. For example you could do an on the fly jornal of your travels.

FYI - it can get and put things to and from the memo pad. You can script all your login steps so its really one touch connect.

No, it's not for "wireless" internet in the mobile phone way. It's for wireless ethernet. So if you have a wireless ethernet setup at home, you can tie into it, and surf the net, check your mail etc.

You can find subscription and non subscription services around. For instance, Starbucks has Wireless ethernet based internet access for a price. There are a lot of people sharing their connection for free in certain cities (NYC for instance). Some McDonalds in some cities are offering access when you buy a meal.

The next morning I called 3 BBuy stores, all were out of stock and so I called the BB in the next city closest to where I live and they had it in stock so I walked across the street from my work and had Circut city match the price and they were reluctant to meet the price. I heard about this deal yesterday afternoon. A quick drive to the local best buy yielded nothing...
Today i called around and found one in another local store (only 50 miles out) heh. 50 miles is nothing in the Southern California area.

Did you try this from one of the kiosks in a BB store or from your own computer? If I understand ashVID correctly, the only way to get the cheaper price online is to order it online while you are at a BB store. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I got mine today in Seekonk, MA. There was a surprised look on the cashiers face when they rang up the card and it was a lot lower than what the price was on the item. There was no mention of this being a Clearance item on the shelf. There was another one on the shelf, but I left it for some other luck person to find.

UPDATE:

Yesterday's visits to our two local Best Buys produced no WL100's in stock. The punk sales kid I spoke with said they would not get any more in because it was a clearance item.

On a whim, I decided to stop by today...and long behold...there was ONE hanging there! I talked to the (different) sales guy there, and he said they had 3 come in on the truck last night... and they sold 2 already this morning. He said something about ordering more because he was sure they could sell them at that awesome price. I don't know if they can actually still place an order for more, but I was soooo happy just to get the last one they had today.

So for those who can't find them... keep checking your local store(s).. there is a possibility they may still get more. Mine did!!!

By the way... this is a replacement for the card I lost on Wednesday (for which I paid full price for).

You must order FROM Best Buy. Some stores have kiosks where you can order OOS products and some stores do it for you. This DEFINITELY works...

Send in your ORIGINAL UPC, they may not accept a copy, it was a misprint on their part.

I just picked one up at CC. I went to BB and they were sold out. I got the guy there to photocopy the paper with the price and SKU #, and that junk. I then took it to CC, which had 1 left. Wow, that's interesting! If you buy one at CC, the Sony mail in rebatehas the purchase dates 3/1/03 until 6/28/03.
So you can still take advantage of the mail in rebate if you get one at CC pricematched.

I was looking at the rebate form on CircuitCity.com and it said something like "copy of UPC code from packaging". While it did say 'copy', it also said 'from packaging' making me think that they need the origanal 'copy'. If you have a copy of your reciept, maybe you could see in another rebate form with the origanal UPC code. Couldn't hurt.

I tried to order one online from Best Buy but could not get the price drop. I also called Best Buy.com to see if they would match the store price, they would not. I asked to talk to a manager and was told that BB.com managers do not take calls. Called back to talk to another rep got the exact same line......Must be in their employee non customer service handbook :p

&nbsp;There are no Best Buys&nbsp;in my town, &nbsp;but three in next town 40 mi. north, all three were sold out. After calling for several straight days I finally gave up picking one up from a local Best Buy. The stores also refused to take a CC against any future shipments.

I ended up buying one on Ebay for $75.00 + $5 shipping, If I receive the $50 rebate that will bring it down to $30 not quite the $16.99 deal but very nice vs. $150 retail price.

I've had a mixed bag of experience with rebates in general:

My Best experience has been with Dell&nbsp;5 rebates, $150, 2 $100 rebates, 1 $75, 1 $50. Collected on all of them, only had problems with 1 of them, Gateway collected on a $100 rebate no problem.

Worst ...........Office max.......10 rebates, only collected on&nbsp;4 of them, they contested all of them. Gave up on the others as they were for small amounts &gt;$10. I no longer shop at Office max.

Will see how this plays out in the next few weeks, the&nbsp; Sony coupons say 6-8 weeks for rebate!!!

I would seriously doubt if they accepted a photocopy. I recently sent in a rebate for a Lexar MS to Parago, which also runs Sony's rebate system. The form said to send a copy, which I did. I was then notified by Parago that they rejected me because I did not send the original UPC. I tried to clear this up over email, but they refused, so luckily I kept the packaging and sent the original UPC in.

Evil Best Buy Won't Reduce the Price!

The good news is that I found 3 at my local best buy (st. peterburg fl). The bad news is that they forced me to pay all $135 for it. They checked the price multiple times but it kept coming up at $135. They said that if i could bring any proof in, then they would pricematch. I got one in Towson, MD at around 7pm today. They had 1 left after I got mine. The hanging tag said 66 - 50 = $16.99, but it rang up at $140. They adjusted the price in the computer to reflect the hanging tag. My search for a Wi-FI card started at noon... so I was VERY GLAD that I ended up with one.

Well, Sony won't lost money because they sold them to BB knowing about the rebate.&nbsp; BB will take a loss because they clearanced them, most likely below their cost.

A friend's wife used to work for a rebate redemption center.&nbsp; She said that only about 1/3 (might have been less) of the people who buy the product for the rebate actually claim it.

So if you factor that in, on average the rebate is only costing Sony $17 per unit.

At my BB, it rang up at the original price and when I insisted that it was supposed to be $66.99, the manager checked the tag on the rack which read $66.99 so i just had to fill out somethingto correct the price. so the moral of thi story is, the new price is not entered in their computer, yet and have them check the price on the web.

Elsewhere on this thread, don't go by the rebate form that BB prints out--go by the Sony rebate form which states May 3 as the last valid purchase date. The link was posted near the beginning of this thread.

Also ther are a few who are saying that they are buying two with the intent on getting the rebate for both. The rebate form says only one rebate per household per address. Of course, if the plan is to sell the extra one on eBay , just advertise the fact that there is a $50 rebate and should be considered in the final price.

Went the Ebay route and picked one up for $75 shipped. No rebate, but its still half the original price. That will have to do I guess. :)

I am confused should I send a photocopy or the original upc or both to be safe? I read the reciept but have been scammed on rebates before. If anyone with experience could advise me on the safest poss. approach (as far as what to send) to getting the rebate back I woul appreciate it.

Follow the rebate instructions to the letter. Most require the original UPC unless otherwise specified. Assume sending in&nbsp;the originals unless otherwise noted. Make copies for yourself, in case you don't get the rebate. Personally, I hate rebates, they are a real PITA!

Although that may be generally true with rebates since many are for a few bucks, I guarantee you that the high dollar rebates get turned in at a much higher rate.

I don't know about individual store rebate forms, but the official Sony rebate form found here:

Although item 2 clearly states that a copy of the UPC code is ok, I've never in the past had a rebate honored unless the original UPC code was sent.

So I would suggest sending it along with a copy of your receipt and completed rebate form. Remember to make a copy of all 3 forms (including UPC) just in case they "accidently" misplace your paperwork:D:D:D

I walked the girl over to the rack and showed her the tag, she asked the guy working the handheld counter, who then asked the other guy working there about it. They finally peeled the tag off the hanger and took it to the register and then called up a manager to override the $139 price.

I has purchased one for $150 2 months ago, before the updated drivers were out and it would not work with my WAP, but the new one with new drivers works great. And I saved $140.

If anyone would be so kind as to e-mail me a scan of their receipt showing the clearance price. Last week, I came into BestBuy and although they were out-of-stock, they had one shipped in from another branch. However, when I come into pick it up today, they don't believe last week's clearance price and won't adjust without any proof. It's almost identical to the existing card. The two main differences from what I remember are that there are now 2 LEDs on the 110, and the range specs are about half of the existing card. That's not to say that the range has actually been decreased, just that Sony is probably using more realistic numbers and not those that would be based on "ideal" conditions.

They took a loss on those cards so I wont expect much love!!! They were selling VERY slowly because they were overprices so they put them on clearance WAY under their cost for a week. Ooops... I believe their cost is over $100 each.

I'm really sorry for the inconvenience. Being new to these type of hot deals, I never thought to take a "raincheck" on the item at Best Buy. I was assured by BestBuy that "items never go out of clearance prices" and assured me that when the card was shipped in from another branch, I'd be able to purchase it for the $6x.xx price. Four days later when I come in to pick up the card, they have no record that it was ever on clearance and refuse to make the adjustment, frankly, looking as though I were mad. They did, however, accept to adjusting to a printout of a clearance price receipt. This is why I'm here now hoping that someone may be willing to offer a scanned receipt.

I have to pay 6.00$ an hour min. one hour to try it out. there is a free one day pass and I think I am going to sign -up but before I give T-mobile my cc# I am wondering are all the starbucks with t_mobile. I read the policy and it says that you can be cahrged if you don't properly log off and with netfont that might lead to some expense. If nefont crashes (I hear it's foolproof) then i have to go home reinstall and drive back to log off? I am leary, any other starbucks with a dfferent service? Francis

I live in Columbus too. A buddy of mine and I went to every dang BestBuy we could, and because we didn't see the thread until 4 days after this started, we were out of luck.

But we did think to go to CC. But they told us "tough" because BestBuy didn't have it in stock! What CC did you go to? I was wondering if you would be willing to send me a copy of your reciept, so I can take it into the CC and complain. Maybe they will take pity on me....

I'm in Atlanta also. I'm sad to hear that the manager didnt go for the low cost. Did you use Pleasant Hill BB by chance? Those guys once told me they refund sales for items purchased from them 30 days ago or earlier, then when I sent my lovely wife there to get a discount on a Router, they sent her packing. Go back there and look for the kid in the Best Buy uniform that keeps bumping into walls and aisles. He'll give you a great discount.

I was able to get the WL100 card last night at a Best Buy in Grand Rapids, MI for $66.99. They honored the price on the JPEG of the Receipt, even though the sale was over! I have never haad any problems at all with my local Best Buys (3 in town). They are willing to work with me to keep my business!
