could some of the long term users of the nx70v tell me aobut the hinge and casing. is it still firm and sturdy, i was hoping for my nx70v to last at least 2 years...without support or taking anything apart

The casing is made of magnesium alloy, the perfect comprimise between strength and wait. It should last you a long, long time.:D

I know it should be long lasting....Im just worried about the hinge getting loose...i was reading in the T50 section and some people with NR70v complained about their hinges and constantly having to tighten it...i certainly hope i dont have to do that....of course i love my nx70v thats why im concerned
we need to duke it out with those people stepping on the nx70v, how dare they....thinking TG50 is better...i think they are crazy
nx70 shall always...rule.........i mean how could u want a modern palm to have a static graffiti..i think all graffitis should be virtual...it makes it seem primitive to have something thats always stuck there.....

I've had my NX70V now for a week, and doesn't show a sign of wear. But then again, I keep it in a slip-in belt case where there isn't anything rubbing against it. My case also has an additional pocket where I keep my Fisher Space Pen stylus combo, my memory sticks, the inline remote and a pair of headphones. The case isn't small (in fact, it can hold the KB11 keyboard with room for the TG50) but it allows me to carry my NX70V practically everywhere.

4 months now, no signs of wear.
the NR that I had before, the paint had started to chip a little at this point.
The only thing I find different is that dirt seems to stick to the NX, but thats alright, a damp cloth fixes that.

One thing I like about my NX compared to the TG is the texture. It hasn't slipped out of my hands once, and for the two weeks I had the TG50 it slipped out three times to (thankfully soft) carpeted floor.

I have had my NR for almost a year and if anything the hinge got tighter.
additionally I have had my NX since last October and it's still same as new :).

The NX hinges are not a problem. But anyways, Sony is going to release a new ZXT-99 or something that you are going to NEED badly way before the hinges go bad :)

I got mine shortly after Turkey Day '02 (~ 6 months) and the hinges work fine.
I did purchse the extended warranty from CompUSA so if it gets "loose" I will be taking it in for replacement!
