View Full Version : help dialup NX60 ->IR->T68i
Can anyone help me how to get "dialup internet "to work...when I try calling my ISP, I get the "calling xxxxxxx" pop-up with the status bar on my T68i appears and then goes away immediately before any connection is made. Then I get an "Error: no carrier" message on my Nx-60. (Not GPRS)

If you use AT&T for your wireless phone service, the problem is that they do not support circuit switched data (CSD) or high speed circuit switched data (HSCSD)...which are necessary if you want to use your phone to directly contact your ISP. The "no carrier" error is the error you will get if CSD is not supported. (Reference the following website: http://www.taniwha.org.uk/)
If you have a provider other than AT&T, call them to request that they enable CSD or HSCSD data service.
Why does AT&T not support CSD? Possibly because they see that they will make more money charging people per kb charges for WAP usage. Or it could be because they don't have the capacity on their network.
I think things will change soon...as more people demand high speed wireless access, more providers will offer the service...for a price!
If you have AT&T and would like to connect your Clie to the internet through your T68, you can do so, but it will be through WAP, and there will be a per kb charge by AT&T. If you are interested in this, I can forward the proper settings.
