Since the original thread was lost in the recent database crash, I'm reopening a thread for suggestions or updates:

http://www.LaunchPlug.com/Launcher_chart.html

Anything to add or update, just post to this thread. I'll keep it updated with the info I read here.

Thanks to member "aym" for starting the first thread :).

Cheers.

I must say, I really did little except start the ball rolling. My first thought this morning when I saw what happened was:

THANK HEAVEN THAT WAS STORED ELSEWHERE!

With all that work I'm so glad you took the time to update the chart on your website. I think it will be an even more helpful resource in the days ahead as we rebuild the body of knowledge that was in the archives.

Thank you again for all your work,
Aym

Yes, thanks spradlinb.

Here is one that may be added to the list. I heard Z-Launcher (ZL) has the capability to cleanly uninstall apps (similar to Uninstall Hack) built-in, which is a cool feature. I don't know that for sure since I have not played around with ZL, yet. I use MegaLauncher (ML) and heard that it also has that feature until I uninstalled NaviRemote and MSMount. Both apps left orphaned files in my CLIE when I delete them with ML.

NaviRemote left about 200KB pdb files that thankfully are identifyable.

MSMount left 1K saved preference (MSdw). Some ClieSource members nice enough to help me identified it. I still have several unknown saved preference files cluttering my RAM.

There is no comparison on my part, it's Z Launcher. Megalauncher 3 does not work on the NX

I use Zlauncher, I just wish it was a little bit smaller!

The size is killing me. (Not literally!)

Nice Chart:)

So far I've SilverScreen 2.5 and MegaLauncher 3.2.2. What I liked about both were the UI and speed, respectively--megalauncher was also very stable I thought.

But I recently had to do a hard reset to clear out some apps that were causing problems with my cradle. So I'm back to using the Palm's basic launcher that's in the rom, and am thinking about trying a new one. Either ZLauncher or Launcher X. From the chart, it looks like Launcher X is the one to try. Anybody disagree? I like the idea of having launcher skins, but how dramatically slower is it on both launchers?

Was just on your site, and not only does it look good but it is also very informative. Nice job!

Still don't see my favorite there: EasyLaunch - simple, free, and can launch apps. from anywhere with your finger - stylus not needed.

Well, now that there's a ZLauncher 2.22 on the horizon, and MegaLauncher has a new version released, I thought I'd bring this thread back up again for a while...

Does anyone want to provide new information on the MegaLauncher 4.0 right now, or would you rather keep the 3.22 info up until more of the 4.0 features are worked out (like new skins and background support issues)? If you prefer to keep the 3.22, that's less work for me (;)), but if you want to replace it with the "latest and greatest" just start giving me the new info to replace on the website at http://www.LaunchPlug.com/Launcher_chart.html

Also, any new updates for the existing launchers listed there that I missed, just let me know.

Cheers.

spradlinb,

Any chance on adding another category? I would like to see "Allow for Shortcut Files" or something along those lines. I know LX has this feature and SS does not. Not too sure of the others though.

Some don't need shortcuts to provide functionality. Not having it may be seen as a negative, when in fact it's a positive.

I think ML4 is pretty much just a newer beta, given all the problems folks are having with it. Until folks have had a chance to play with the backgrounds, etc., I'd recommend sticking with 3.2.2 in the table. I haven't seen a physical copy of ZL 2.22 yet, but I'd recommend updating the chart for it when it arrives.

I'm just curious, as it seems to have died about 9 months ago.

Guess not.

Those are old stuff. I have ML4.3.0 since April and ZL3.6.1 since September. ZL even is already in v.4.0.b5.

At a glance to the chart, it appears YiShow has the best features . . . . but i don't hear much about it from anyone . . . . mostly NR's

Silver Screen is @ 3.1.2.

That chart is a good starting point, but definitely out of date.
