just bought used T3 on eBay for partner - she has Mac i-Book. Never had PDA before and I'm Windows so steep learning curve. I'd like to do complete wipe of T3 back to factory fresh and then fresh Mac install / hotsync to Mac. Is this possible? Would "hard reset" do it for me or would another process be required / preferred? Search of various forums indicates "zero out reset" is available for T5 and Treo 650 only - sounds like what I want(?) Any help would be appreciated - thanks
Kevin

assuming you haven't loaded software already, a hard reset is all you need. however, if you've loaded anything and have done a hotsync, then you should rename your backup folder; otherwise when you sync it'll copy stuff back to your PDA.

that was a short reply, so if it didn't make sense, let me know.

Check out my Palm blog posting here (http://maceyr.blogspot.com/2005/11/putting-it-all-together-pt-4-restoring.html). I've discussed how to do the hard reset and backing up.

thanks for response hherbzilla,
did as you suggested and have disappeared previous owners data, back to clean slate and ready to install Mac software options. Sadly initial hot sync will have to wait a while as grandaughter interneted on i-Book over weekend - we are now back in 1970 and and any attempt to launch programs has us watching the Spinning Beach Ball of Death for half an hour - gotta laugh! Still, we're on our way, many thanks to you

Hi maceyr,
thanks for link to your site - great stopping place for newbie like me. Allready stumbled across it a few days ago when T3 first arrived - power on button wouldn't respond and only half touch screen controls responded. Thought I'd done my money but your site introduced me to Digitizer so recharged battery and within 20 mins of fiddling T3 was working like a dream - huge relief - can't thank you enough for giving me confidence to play and fix
Kevin
PS don't suppose anyone has an idea of roughly how long T3 usage for full battery charge - I know it would depend on how used but assume only for general pda not multi media stuff - thanks Kevin
