Hello,

It would seem that there are real problems using a Sony NZ or for that matter as NX. When I try to make a GPRS connection using a Clie running OS 5 it is impossible with a Siemens S55. Now for that matter the same holds true with a Nokia phone as well. If one trys with a Palm Tungsten no worries perfect connection all the time. It would seem that the NZ or NX only works with the Sony Ericsson T68i. Has anyone out there had the same problems and found a cure using either a Siemens, Nokia (8910, 8910i 6310i etc). I own a NZ and the Siemens S55. Have tried other phones as my friend runs a mobile shop selling mobiles and PDA's. By the way this site is excellent lots of good advice

Where you from Gromit? UK (Wallace and Gromit)

anyway, depending on your network provider and country settings may vary. There is a fabulous app called COMA http://www.79bmedia.de
This app does the set up all by itself, you just choose the country (mostly european), service and phone...

Thanks and I will give it a try. Sony does not follow the rules in OS 5 as my friends Tungsten works perfect with my S55. I am from the UK but am now working in Moscow. Be good

Got a Nokia 7210 with T-mobile, the GPRS connection works like a dream. Check out http://www.nokia.com/phones/files/guides/N7210_Palm.pdf for detailed instructions on setting up GPRS.

User *99# in the phone section to stop the phone trying to dial a number.

Thank you very much for your efforts it is appreciated. I have found several solutions that work but it is a pain.

That is exactly where COMA comes in handy: the complete setup is done by the sw even BT connection....
I have been going through nightmares of setups, init strings and what not to make it work before having COMA and it hardly ever worked. On top I travel alot and if the roaming network allows GPRS roaming it is also done automatically:)

you can configure it your self. I did that using GPRS mobile internet on my Nokia 6310i

it is not that difficult, get in touch and i would be more that happy to explain.

i contacted myservice provider and the dont support Palm and Sony do not support Nokia, so i had no choice :D

Very true what you are saying, but here in Germany for example there were huge difficulties with D1 and Ericsson phones + PalmOS.
One important step in connecting over GPRS is that header compressing has to be turned off and Palm OS does not support that. COMA works around that !
Anyhow it is not for free, but made my life much easier, just imagine how to get those log in infos in a foreign country you travel to;)

Yes I actually used the coma settings to perform a manual config.

It helped a great deal. Come support a rival network in BE so i still cannot use it.

Anyway you should not have in most EU countries if you request a GPRS roaming when you travel. I connected easily in th UK with no changes required to current settings.
