after my TH55 screen broke (http://www.1src.com/forums/showthread.php?t=102401) the local palm pilot guy gave me a T|E to mess with. i charged it up and to my dismay found that every few minutes the screen goes crazy and usually locks up requiring a soft reset. by "goes crazy" i mean, more specifically, whatever was on the screen will be distorted in some way: sometimes the colors are inverted (or at least the background is black) and the picture is offset, or sometimes it looks like watching an old VHS tape on a VCR with bad tracking--portions of the screen flashing up and down. every once in a while after tapping the screen or pushing a hard button it will stop and function again as usual. sometimes it messes up almost before it's finished resetting.
i thought the problem might be a loose or dirty ribbon connector for the screen and that i might be able to open it up and clean it. i try not to think that it might be a bizarre hardware problem requiring a motherboard replacemnt or that maybe it's just FUBAR.
so i was wondering if any of you have a possible diagnosis or some ideas to try. there also seems to be a little dark spot (NOT a dead pixel) underneath the screen somewhere...possibly some dirt of something. how can i fix that?
