Since some time I've been looking for the better solution then LifeDrive 4 GB HDD.

1. My first attempt was with Asus wireless 2.5" HDD (WiFi enabled) - using WiFiGenie and WiFi Pro I'managed to have additional virtual storage card for my T3+PalmOne WiFi card - 80 Gb of space for my files.

But WiFi speed just disapointed me -11 Mbps is unreachable dream - what I managed to get was 280-400 kps (overclocked T3). So it was enough for MP3/OGG playback or for iSilo/RepliGo reading (with some small pauses) but not for video playback or transfer of large files. Just too slow...

2. Recently I found device(s) called SyncBox II - they derive from devices able to copy all files between two USB storage devices (like USB HDD, MP3 player, card reader), but in addition have LCD display and possiblity of coping individual files!

So imagine this - 2.5" HDD in USB box, one small card reader and one large SD card - and voila ! Just copy necessary files to the card from HDD and put in Your PDA!

Notice: I've tested solution 1, solution no. 2 is just theoretical since I'm still wating for my SyncBox II.

Here are links:
for US&Canada: http://www.aleratec.com/usbcocrplpa3.html Aleratec USB Copy Cruiser Plus - that one is better (built-in card reader) - but unfortunately I'm from Poland, so no delivery
for Europe: http://www.pearl.de Pearl - You have to search for c-enter Daten-Synchronizer "Syncbox II" mit Display

If anybode has any experience with such devices please share it!

What I use is The Missing Sync and a Powerbook with my LifeDrive. I focus on the most important files to maximize the "limits" of the 4GB space.

1. I sync only one album of my favorite pics. They are resized as they are synced with the LD.

2. I also created a folder of my favorite songs in my Powerbook and copied them (one time only) to my LD. The songs are played through Pocket Tunes.

2a. Streaming music can also be handled well by Pocket Tunes. I haven't explored streaming all my iTunes songs and accessing them on my LD.

3. I have a Notes folder of .txt files in my Powerbook. That's synced to my LD in a Notes folder. These .txt files can easily be edited in Documents to Go.

4. Contacts, Events, and Tasks are also synced via iSync and The Missing Sync. On my Powerbook, these were earlier synced online to my .Mac account.

Wow... I didn't know about WiFiGenie... that software works great for me! Seems faster than Bluetooth or Palm's crippled "USB" support on my TX.

I've finally recieved my SyncBox II from Pearl company - it works with card readers, CardExport and my USB 2.5" HDD (WDC 80 GB, HDD need power supply- I use battery extender with four AA accu- enough for 2-3 hours)!

Finally I can have all my mp3/video/ebooks/maps/documents/pdfs etc. available at hand without need of PC or notebook.

I've attached some pictures.

Greetings
