Hello
I bought a new memory stick, a magic gate 1 gb.
I put it inside of the clie but it doesnt recognize it...what should I do, some kind of format? how?
On the specs of the TJ35, it says that my clie should read this kind of memory stick...I am puzzled
Thanks

Format the memory stick using the clie files inside the
tj35 and you should be fine.

Thanks for the answer but it seems the clie doesnt see the card. When i got to Files, the clied only makes me see the main memory of the palm and not the ms. I fear the ms is broken :-(

check the ms with another device, maybe with a digicam in a shop?

4gb is not supposed to work in a TJ35. Did you look at sony's website and see if it is compadible? You know how to format don't you? If not go to the website and learn.

to Philpalm who has trouble learning how to read, we were talking about a 1gb memory stick and not a 4gb stick!, we are aware that the max memory stick to use is just 2gb unless you use a hack which uses a FAT32 file system to be able to use a 4gb

So did anyone figure this out?
I just got a 1GB Memory Stick Pro (Sony brand) for my sister's TJ-35. When you insert it into the Clie, you do not hear the sound (the sound when MS is inserted and recognized).
I have a 256MB Memory Stick Pro running fine in the same Clie.
I put it in my computer's Sandisk reader, and it read the 1GB MS fine. I noticed that it was formatted to FAT32, so I tried re-formatting it to FAT. No joy. The Clie doesn't "see" the card when it is inserted.
So if anyone has figured this out, I would truly appreciate any answers.

So two choices convert your tj-35 to read fat 32 or convert the memory stick to a regular fat format.
I believe that to convert the fat you erase the card and place the 256MB Ms file onto the erased 1gb card. (don't really know if that will work but if you click properties on your pc the computer will read fat and not fat 32)
The original poster never gave us feedback and that sucks. Otherwise a normally formatted 1gb card is supposed to work on the TJ-35.
One question how did you format it to fat 32 by using the pc or was it originally new or previously used?

I used "disk management" in xp and set it to FAT32. No joy, so I re-formatted it again but this time as "FAT".
Tried copying the two files from a freshly Clie formatted 256MB MS Pro (which works in the PDA) to a freshly PC formatted 1GB MS Pro, and still, the PDA does not recognize that there is card installed.

Sorry to hear that. Looks like a return is in order. Most companies hate to get their cards back.
Another method to try is using a sony Cybershot camera to reformat the card. Otherwise you are stuck with a "flash card" or a semi-usb zip file.

In System Category there should be "Card Info" and there you can reach "Formatting Card" by Pulldown-Menu.
Have you tried this ?

If you haven't tried this already (I read fast) - there is an update on the Sony site for using bigger memory sticks on the TJ35. Install the update, and you should be good.
