I liked the clean interface of the compact mode. I can simulate it by select 'None' for the tabs and set the back button to make the list pop up.

Or you can set the Tabs to None and go into Top Bar Setup and make sure Categories are chosen, then you'll have the exact Compact Mode back!!
You can also add the category gadget to the top bar, plus a few other gadgets or the time, battery, RAM, etc. To my point of view, doing that is just about identical to the old compact mode.
What is the difference you perceive?

I liked the *OLD* category drop down picker box . . . I don't like the *NEW* Megalauncher style pop up tap picker for changing categories that way. I think the old way looked better with my set up . . . ::sob:: I *liked* it.
:D

Thanks. That is exactly what I needed. I would add that the 'tab panel' option under the ZL Prefs should NOT be checked.

as just posted by emmert, you can have the old drop down list by unchecking 'tab panel' under 'preferences'
then it's exactly the same, as far as i can tell

What!! Read the manual - never!! ;)
What I did was play around with all the options and settings to discover and uncover the features. This program is almost perfect!!
What I still want - tab specific settings!

Agreed. I saw in one of the other threads that someone got an email saying that it was being worked on. I only installed yesterday, so I'm still trying it out; I'd buy at that point no question. Probably will anyway.

Try it and Buy it. Don't cheat yourself out of a great product.
It costs about the same as a few Happy Meals, or a large pizza. And the pleasure lasts way longer!! :p

Dude, my system can't handle BK or McD food anymore, so that is *way* true.
(Too much information? :D)

The problem is that the title of the category is truncated like "Appli..." Also, with this enabled, you can't have any other gadgets on the top bar.

They have to be in the 4th and 5th positions from the right to show (and YES, it took some trial and error!)

I posted a screen shot in that section here (http://www.cliesource.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=410) of my new setup. I put time and battery on the bottom bar with six tools, one of which is the "All buttons list" to cover the rest. I hid the top bar and put the transparent tabs up there (10 max to avoid the tab/category arrows). I'd love to be able to lose the two show/hide panels arrow icons on the bottom row to gain two more useful tools. Anyway, a very clean and functional setup, and completely different than my last favorite layout. Man, I love this program. :)
