I have a lots of problems with my ux50, It has give me a lots of headheaches, I got the next problems:
1) the screen has losing color, Its look like when you video drives of windows are down and all photos looks bad. It happend when one kid tapped very strong to the screen. (I musnt borrow it to my sister  )
2) There is a buzzing sound very annoying.
3) the battery is down very... very! quickly in fact in some minutes go from 100% charge to 40%, and the weird thing is that after that It beggan to up the charge.
Some one know how to fix all tis problems with no go to the Sony Center, (Becouse I think It will be mouch more cheap to buy a new one to send it to service)
And finally if some one want to buy it for repairs, used parts, or something... I want to sell it, but Im in Mexico. Well thats all. see ya.

1. how bad is it, if possible could u take some pictures? the thing is, the ux50 is not known to have the best screen color compared to other clies such as nz90, nx80, nx70, th55.
2. buzzing sound u cannot get rid of it. it was born with it.
3. maybe u should chg a new battery

1. - This sounds like a replacement screen is in order.
2. - Apparently this is a very common problem and there are a few "fixes" documented elsewhere on this forum.
3. - My battery is the same. I've ordered 2 replacement batteries from a seller on eBay with a view to making an extended battery, but I may replace the internal battery while I'm at it.

Welcome to 1src!
1. Order a new screen... :(
2. If you open the UX50, and place a piece of CardBoard behind it, it should make it much quieter :)
3. What are you doing which makes the battery drop? Heavy WiFi and Bluetooth can do this. How old is the battery/unit?

Usually the whine comes from the part of the screen closest the hinge. I think there was a thread where other people confirmed this.
You can try to stick some thick paper or thin cardboard in the frame to see if it helps. First do it while you still can retract it. ;)
The whine sometimes gets an itsy bitsy less by applying a screen protector.
Just let us know if these tips helped.
There it is... ;)

For testing it isn't necessary to open the UX. You could even apply the cardboard without ever opening the UX. Just stick it in the frame near the hinge. Removing could be a different story.
Perhaps you might experience some changing in the sensitivity of the touchscreen, so be reasonable with the thickness. ;)
