View Full Version : And I thought the UX series battery life was bad.

I don't know where they came up with the results of the battery lasting 3-4 days with 30 minutes of use per day. I used mine as a watch all day and maybe played with the palm side 15 minutes and the battery was at about <25% by evening. It does appear that recharging daily is a requirement.

They get their 3-4 day number by having the watch go into sleep mode after so many minutes.
This can be set in the preferences but it kind of defeats the purpose of having a watch on.

Yep. Battery life was bad. But have you seen how small the battery is? :D

Good Morning-
Agreed. The battery life is way below average. It is close to rendering the device un-usable.
Oh well, I bought for fun anyway. It was never going to take the place of either my watch or my PDA.

Same here. Battery is shocking (I can just about use on 2nd day if I avoid PDA use and charge in the evening), but I bought mine for fun as well. It's handy at times, but I wouldn't trust it with key data, mainly because of the battery. I'm enjoying it though, just not relying on it or taking it too seriously :)

Mine just arrived. I didn't set it up, yet. I wonder. I read people who do have prolems with the battery. But there are also poeple who don't even mention a battery problem?
I wonder if the battery is to be replaced by a better one, higher capacity?

Your sig says it all
The specs of the battery are to be found HERE (http://www.powercellkorea.com/eng/product/smart_watch.php) I think it is the PD3555. I am not sure because this is a very small type, 35mm/5,5
A wiki with lots of info HERE (http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ja&u=http://www5.atwiki.jp/seko/) this is a machine translation of the org. japanese website.
On that website also a disassembly of the watch, and hard/software(mainly Japanese except for the launcher)
Nevertheless. It is a nice gadget for $25 :)

A girlfriend ordered mine for $49,95 2 days later Amazon drop the price to $29,99 for a short time. I didn't think it was fair. I told her to write them and ask for a return which she got, $20

I got mine for $50 off eBay; Buy it Now. Is there a version 3 I have totally missed? :(
Anyway, I think my battery is good. I do notice it gets low quick, most days I use it once or twice; and then it sits charging over night second day. On the weekends it just sits on my desk if we dont go anywhere....no noticable probs with my batt. ;)

I just paid $35 for one off Amazon. Eagerly awaiting its arrival, so I can tear the wristband off and put it in my pocket, avoiding the creation of a rectangular wear on my jeans.

Hmm, doesn't that ruin the "watch" part? :D

Not really...I haven't worn a watch since I was one of you fourteen-year-olds (and no, I'm not inferring that you're 14, dragonsgames). I used to have a tan line from it.
My interest is in the size. Even if it's huge for a watch, it's tiny for a PalmOS device. I'd like to see a Pocket PC that small.
Here's my question: It's got a 66 MHz processor. Has anyone tried under-clocking it to see if that would save battery life? I mean, I could probably live with running at 20 MHz most of the time. Or does that affect the time as well?
Edit: Okay, I'll leave the wristband on. But only long enough for my roommate to see it and become jealous. He's been using the same calculator wristwatch since at least when I had the tan line.

Do you have a tan line from your watch?

I'm 14 too. :) I dont have much of a tan line from it, though in the summer I think I do a little...
I dont think a PPC can be that small ;)

T-Man, you defiantly don't have a tan... :p

Of course I dont(now, deffinately; its Winter.) and hardly ever do anyway. ;) I go in the pool in the summer, I had sunburn once. I'll try being outside with my PB this summer. :) ...more heat...

Does anyone in this world know how to spell definitely right?
It's one of my pet peeves.
(back on topic) Has anyone bothered under-clocking these devices and seen an increased battery life? Or will I be the first when it arrives...

I think I'm turning into my dad. That's something he'd do.

Can you say that in hours and minutes?

Would you guys like to be one of my beta testers for my calculator program? I've got a lot of work to do on it before Friday, but I'm planning on releasing something which is functional and should be able to do algebraic manipulation.
See this thread (http://www.1src.com/forums/showthread.php?p=882591) for more details

Oops, I've been speeling it wrong for a real long time then. :o
If you want, I could also test your calculator app. I'm in Algebra 1 right now and also have a TI calculator, though I have a TI-34 II. I've been looking for a palm calcualtor capable of doing algebra.

Would you bet on this?
If so how much? ;-)
BTW: I think the battery has less than half of the nominal capacy (170mAh), mainly all these watches laid around several month without charging...
I'm on my way to get 380 to 600 mAh in it (maby by adding ~3mm in thikness)
