View Full Version : Agendus 10.03 problem

I've encountered an odd situation. I decided to give Agendus a very good evaluation (I've played with it on and off for a while, but have been a long-term DB5 user). To this end, I decided to remove DB5, Shadow and SuperNames and just use Agendus.
Agendus was working fine... but my PDA was generally acting odd. I've been having HotSync problems (keeps crashing mid-stream), my PDA was resetting by itself when sitting in the cradle, etc. I figured I'd do a hard reset and then reinstall my apps. Well, since I've done that, Agendus has been very slow to start. When I press the datebook button, it takes about 5 seconds for it to launch. http://www.1src.com/forums/images/smilie/images/smilies/frown.gif However, once I'm within Agendus, it moves from screen to screen quickly.
This is especially frustrating since 10.03 WAS working fine for me until I did a hard reset and reinstalled my apps. http://www.1src.com/forums/images/smilie/images/smilies/confused.gif I thought I'd see if an of the long-term, hardcore Agendus users have any suggestions. TIA.

hherbzilla,
Hey, don't see many posts from you anymore. Glad to hear from you again. I would recommend you post this experience on their forum under "Issues - Serious Problems." This startup delay is being heavily discussed (and researched by Iambic). Your experience may shed some new light as you are the first I've heard going from quick to slow after cleaning up your PDA.
I know they are looking at: device, other loaded apps, number of records (contacts, todos, meetings, memos), number of "unfiled" records, etc. trying to determine the cause of excessive startup time (for a minority of users I would guess). For me, it's a tad under 2 seconds. Could be better, but not bad. I can live with that. With 10.00 it was about 6 seconds, so they've made some headway. ;)

If you're willing, perform a backup, try the Hard Reset again, and this time only install Agendus before installing anything else.
Try Agendus and see how it runs.
If running fast, then one-by-one reinstall your other apps and their relative data from the backup.
After each install, try Agendus and see if its performance changes.
I've been trying to pin this down, and all indications are that it's a problem with interaction with other applications.

Yes, I haven't been that active here for a while... but have been coming back more often lately. Good to be back! :)
Thanks to both of you for your posts. I think I will try the hard reset one more time, and then I'll post in the forum based on the results. I'll let you know what happens.

Michael already knows this from my post on the Iambic forum, but for the benefit of anyone else who reads this: I did another hard reset and ONLY installed Agendus. I'm still having the same issue where it takes about 5 seconds to initially load. They're trying to do some more PD so we'll see what happens.
I would love to use Agendus if only it doesn't cause my Lifedrive to soft reset. I have tried the 10.03 version with the Lifedrive updated to V2 rom. It would just crash the Lifedrive once in a while.

I'm still using 9.06, but if I do the warm/soft reset routine on my T5 everything is back to normal speedwise. It degrades over time, which leads me to believe it is something related to NVFS, not apps.

However, the speed has remained good, so I'm not sure. Still testing slowly, day by day. I will let everyone know if I discover something.

It would just crash the Lifedrive once in a while.I'm not getting reset with AGP 10.03 on LD. Could be a corrupt PIM database. You could perform a Hotsync, then manually (with a File Manager of some kind) delete the PIM dbs, one by one. After each deletion, change that conduit to Desktop Overwrites Handheld and sync.

mcapehart,
Thanks for the tips.
I am use version 9.06 at the moment and it seems very stable.
When I was using 10.03, it crashes when I am tapping some of the menu selection items. Do you still think it is related to corrupt PIM database ?
In addition, the same PIM database run fine on a T3 (my backup device) with Agendus 10.03.
I shall give it a try sometimes and for the time being I am happy with 9.06 as it seems to have a cleaner interface.

Do you have the same app profile on both? This could be a NVFS issue. The T3 is not and the LD is. Many apps (Agendus NOT included) don't play well with some of the newer NVFS devices.
It has very similar app profile on both devices. Of course some application that is unique to T3 I can't install on Lifedrive and via verse. The lifedirve I have all the latest apps that support NVFS on.
It is strange that Agendus 9.06 runs very well on my Lifedrive (extremely stable, can't crash it at all) but not 10.03.
